Pulp have announced 2 side shows alongside Splendour in the Grass and I guess you could call it Splendours 'little brother' of a festival 'On the Brightside'.
Saturday 23rd July - Riverside Drive, Perth
Wednesday 27th of July - Hordern Pavilion - Sydney
Friday 29th July - Festival Hall - Melbourne
The posters dont have Russells name on it so I am assuming he wont be getting on the Qantas plane....
Jarvis loves us. Well, I do remember the last tiome he was in Melbourne (2009) and I remember him saying 'see you in a few years time' - and I said to a friend, I bet the next time we see him will be with Pulp....not sure what the moral of that story is - but am very happy....
Australia only got 1 lousy Pulp tour in 1998....so maybe thats why - to make up for lost ground?
I would have thought they'd have done Sheff Arena along with a date in Glasgow and London. Ah well, they're a funny bunch. Not that we don't know that! Looking forward to reading new interviews and press pictures
I think this is a cause for optimism for those of us outside Australia. A taste for their own shows can only make a UK tour more likely. And I have a feeling they'll do South and possibly North America at the end of the year, or the start of next. The legions of Mexicans, Argentinians and Americans pleading for Pulp to come to their shores on Facebook might have more of an effect than you think.
I guess sans-Russell, they're more likely to play stuff like Party Hard, The Fear & Bad Cover Version. So although I'm dying to see Russell for the first time I hope we can find a recording of the Aussie shows. Particularly if they do Party Hard (:
alectrona, i know i know - if only someone could say to Russell we're nice people - accomodating - we dont bite much. I was looking forward to his violin parts rocking out the hordern and festival hall and perth....means Mark has to step out - i hope this also means they play some extra tracks from This is Hardcore - Party hard and the fear...oh and to hear Dishes would be amazing!

Everyone should go on the Coachella facebook with requests. The amount of retardation on there is mind-numbing and we need some valid posts to balance things out and show there is a demand for PULP.

I believe there will be a UK tour after all the festivals. I also believe that they will possibly be more interesting, and they will probably delve into the more obscure parts of the back catalogue. It wouldn't surprise me if they did something like Suede and played the four Island albums over four nights. With a few B-sides and Intro merged into His 'n' Hers. Well I can dream about it anyway.
I'm hoping this works. But this was taken this morning up the road from my place. Obviously it almost made me have an accident in my car when I first saw it.
Flying over to Perth in the morning to see Pulp at On The Brightside on Saturday. Will keep you all posted....Perth is quite a small city so fingers crossed I see Pulp hanging out with The Hives poolside.....eeee so excited!
I believe Jarvis just answered the Morrissey Vs Pulp imaginary fight debate from another thread at the start of that clip. Clearly Candida would be the last one standing!
