I just noticed something kinda spooky. The Pulp gig at Wireless (sadly the only one I can get to*) is on the 40th anniversary of Jim Morrison's death. I wonder if they know? Wouldn't it be amazing if they performed a cover as a tribute? I think Pulp may have been at least a little influenced by The Doors, mostly because of some musical similarities between Separations & Strange Days. Also, there's a short exerpt from Deep Fried In Kelvin which is reminiscent (more so in Jarvis' vocal delivery) of When The Music's Over. Could all just be coincidence, tho'. Who knows?
Well judging from his 'On This Day' and 'Born On This Day' slots on his radio programme I think the chances of Jarvis knowing the above are quite high so I wouldn't rule out anything, particularly as The Doors were an influence on Jarvis. Indeed, the presence of keyboards in a ''cool band'' may have influenced Pulp's sound from the beginning.
