I don't know how/if Tim McCalls' death affected Jarvis' future solo plans. The second record was a lot more collaborative between him and his group with Tim getting the most writing credits. For a time during the Further Complications tour, and seeing live a couple of times how much Jarvis seemed to be in his element, the thought crossed my mind that with a new de-facto band there was little chance of Pulp reforming.
But now...who knows? I just hope he keeps writing songs. Further Comps was the most enjoyable (if not necessarily best) JC record for me since DC (not withstanding bits of Relaxed Muscle).
Russell working with the band and being part of new Pulp material is an exciting proposition but I'll be (ecstatically) surprised if it comes to pass.
I really did enjoy his solo work, from Relaxed Muscle to Harry Potter, from Charlotte Gainsbourg to his own albums. Further Complications was solid album. It really stands as a complete album, even though qualitative some song from the first album are better. Will it affect his solo carreer? It doesn't matter really. Since I've become a fan of Pulp in 2005 or 2006 it was always more of a Jarvis affaire for me. His lyrics is what counts for me and it's fine by me if these are backed by Pulp, Relaxed Muscle or some session musicians.

Well, it doesn't seems unlikely does it? Maybe the tragic incident was a reminder that life isn't forever and whilst you still got the ability and a chance to meet up with some old friends- do it?
I think Pulp as a group VS Jarvis solo is far better.
My opinion is that in general Pulp material is better & I find myself listening to it far more often.
I really do hope Pulp stays on & makes more albums.. after all they never actually broke up...as far as I know it was an extended hiatus that hopefully has come to an end.
The last 8 years being a ''hiatus'' doesn't completely ring true - if that was the case surely it would be the TIH and WLL line-up returning and they'd be writing new material before previewing it live as opposed to headlining summer festivals with their classic and commercially most successful line-up.
