Jeez, Germany, Norway, Sweden...can we have some UK gigs please? On a brighter note, I feel quite good about them not doing Glastonbury 'cos that's too damned expensive. Gutted for those of you who were going anyway, tho'. Beyonce, huh? :(
But Pulp are rumored for Reading/Leeds, I hope that's true. I might even get 2 day tickets rather than 'do' the Reading weekend.
Damn it, just read that Reading/Leeds has an exclusive headliners policy, so I guess that's out. But there must be some warm up gigs to be announced, surely?
I'm beginng to think that if there are going to be warm up gigs then they are going to be really small and possibly very short notice (maybe even secret) affairs! I wish I hadn't just spent all of my pay on useless things this month too as if I am wrong and they do a small tour I'd expect them to be announcing that in the next few weeks.
I'm beginning to wonder myself Weed, if they were to announce a tour for this summer they'd surely be announcing it any day now. Maybe it will just be a secret warm up
Since Jay Z's headlining act the other year, after the furore over him not being ''Glasto enough'' to play and headline the festival, I suppose it was inevitable that his other half would soon follow suit.
I have more of an issue with choosing both U2 and Coldplay - they're two sides of the same coin surely? Fair enough, U2 have never done Glasto (though they've never really had to, minting it with their Popmart and ZooTV tours etc.) But Coldplay? Headlining again?! Jesus Wept....Nice band, nice songs but such a safe bet. An easy option that I thought the Eavis's might ignore.
Pulp would stick out like a sore thumb headlining but they always have done, even in '95 they weren't meant to. I wonder if they'd waited a bit instead of confirming Wireless and The Isle of Wight they might have got it. But hey, it's not that important in the scheme of things. Just a bit of recognition would have been nice.

I'm sure I read on the Primavera website that Pulp were playing their comeback gig at the same event that they played their last gig, but that's not right is it? wasn't it in Rotherham or somewhere else in the UK where they had their last gig? Anyway, if that is true, which I don't think it is, it would point towards them doing zero warm up shows.
Still, I hope they do, and I hope they find away of letting us lot on here having the first pick of tickets (pretty please!) Sheffield would be the obvious location!
I think they'll do Glastonbury too. My guess is they will do it but not as headliner, and quite possibly as a 'secret, TBA band' on The Park Stage or somewhere similar.
No, the Primavera site says they last played in Spain at the same festival in 2002. Barcelona was also the last place that the classic, re-united line-up performed in '96. So all sorts of nice symmetry, marvellous.
Speaking of Primavera, day tickets are now on sale (65 EUR + booking fee) so I'm going to get a Friday one over the weekend. Really want to see Grinderman and PJ Harvey too (wonder how Nick and PJ get on these days) but they're on Thu and Sat respectively which is annoying as there's no way I'll get time off work to do the whole festival. Being a bit skint doesn't help either - 65 yoyos to see Pulp and some other decent acts (The National, Belle & Sebastian, Sufjan Stevens) is fine. The 170 euro for the full thing is a bit beyond me. Might just do the Fri and Sat.
It would be great to meet up with folk from here - I know a few have said they are going. Nearer the time we should have a thread to organise it.

On his Bunny Munro tour in 2009 or early 2010 she was at a concert in London and someone in the crowd shouted out to play Henry Lee with her. They did.

Yeah, interesting to see Jarvis be so cagey about it. It's only lately on his Sunday Service show that he's mentioned the reunion. The other week he played a clip of Robbie Williams bemoaning the nature of touring ''Thanks Robbie. You've made me really excited about the summer now'' and then the show was recorded live from Sheff as he was up there rehearsing with the band. I wonder whereabouts... the Bank's pottery warehouse looked fairly cramped when that Common People docu was made a few years ago. Something magical about the thought of all six of them rehearsing together at the moment.
I wonder if the band will do much press before the summer. Can't wait to see some new group-shot pics.

Yeah the secrecy is driving me mad! I noticed at the NME Awards he had a cane. Do you think he injured himself doing some of his old moves during rehearsals?! I'm dying to see some new press shots
i think he was carrying a pointer, like the ones he was using during his dates a couple of years ago. will examine the pictures more closely now though!
Well it seems Steve Lamacq has the exclusive first comeback interview. Jarvis briefly spoke about Pulp, or rather didn't, on Radcliffe & Maconie's new 6 Music show last week. They said ''So, you've a busy summer ahead'' to which he replied something like ''I'm not allowed to talk about that or else Lammo will kill me''.
