I'm curious why Gordon Brown is so despised. Aside from being a bit milquetoast, has he done anything in particular to rouse the ire of the British people?
Remaining as apolitical as I can, I wouldn't say he's done anything other than what most politicians do day in, day out to attract disdain - but as PM and leader of a party that's been in power for 13 years, he's become the focal point for anger at some pretty big scandals lately. People are generally in a piss towards lots of our politicians, though.
Also, yeah... his personality is a large factor (sadly). Common conception is he's a dour chap, and it seems that some advisors think he should appear to lighten up a little, which doesn't always come across as awfully genuine... as this infamous video shows.

Is it just his lack of dynamism?
Created a massive national debt that will take generations to pay off....
... hence I will have to work til I die to pay the index-linked pensions of the bloated civil service.
if cameron gets in i may well kill myself.... (well not really but it'll be hideous)
Having just watched the Cameron interview on Newsnight I'd be fearful if you live in the North East or Northern Ireland........or anywhere north of Watford judging by previous Tory governments.
i'm in london but i'm a scottish kid of the eighties, there's no way that shower of shite have changed. probably even worse than when that evil witch was in power.
Well, admitting that I know very little about Gordon Brown, I couldn't help feeling a bit of melancholy watching him leave 10 Downing Street. Something about Brown strikes me as very sincere and genuine.
Cameron seems very... confident. I think confidence is an overrated quality.
Brown would have been a lot better off if he just had acted like the grumpy old bastard he always has come across as - putting on a forced smile for the cameras and pretending you like the arctic monkeys gets you nowhere!
Very few Tory voters around here and probably even less in Scotland (I think 85% off the vote was 'non Tory' up there). We're still recovering from the 80s and early 90s when they closed down all of the industry and replaced it with... well fuck all leaving masses unemployed. They strangled the railways before cutting them up and selling them off to idiots who use them to line their pockets. They sold all the council houses and neglected to create new one's for those who really needed the help. and it goes on and on...
I did however vote Lib Dem and I heard they have 5 MPs in the cabinet. If that's true then it may be a good thing - although it could also damage the Lib Dems considerably... I guess only time will tell.
If one good thing has come from all ths fiasco it's that it shows the public are engaged with politics again and plenty got up off their arses and went out to vote. I was fearful that the turn out would be low and the BNP would win a seat in parliment... but they didn't really get a look in. Good!
Maybe finish with politics? I'm not very fond of this thing, because there are a lot of unscrupulous people. In all the countries. They come in a squabble and make people quarrel. And I do not care about politicians. I want to be friends with Britain and the British.
