The one remaining song from the Further Complications sessions not to be released - anyone have any idea if we'll ever hear it? Jarvis' notes in the press release of the advance version of the album said we'd get to hear all the recorded songs at some stage. According to Pulpwiki the song was rehearsed in Paris during the exhibition in May, don't suppose anyone recorded it?
Now he's got his own radio programme he can be contacted by email, could be something to ask him I suppose.
I'd be surprised if he continues to promote the album - I think the decent-sized tour down under last month was a full-stop on it. Didn't he say he wouldn't be doing any music this year? With his new radio show, and possibly more work for BBC - doing a tv docu-programme on the north of England I wouldn't be surprised. Having said all that, it's still a bit strange that he didn't do more UK dates last year.
The video recorded during the Paris residency is still available. I've dug out the rehearsal of 'The Night They Let Me Out Of The Home' for you. This is what I used to transcribe the incomplete lyrics on PulpWiki.
I hope we get to hear the studio version at some point, though, I agree with Eamonn that promotion for the album is most likely over. I guess it could appear as an exclusive download track somewhere or on a compilation, otherwise I don't think we're going to hear it any time soon.

I like to think we were in some ways behind the decision to release Girls Like It Too as digital dl, with our moaning and all on the official website. So i we mail him about that last song, Rough trade could do something similar.
I think this is relevent enough to not to start a new topic! Whatever happened to the song about the Betamax recorder? Did it become something else?
Just want to add -thanks very much for the link! - hadn't listened to it before. I need that song! Surprisingly for Jarvis it sounds a lot like Syd. Absolutely brilliant. I think the 3 or 4 minutes of instrumental before the lyrics are part of the song tho', so I'd say start it at 1:35ish on that video. A 10 minute psychedelic piece, pretty much the last thing I'd expect from him. C'mon Jarvis, release it! Please! In the meantime, is it possible to mp3ify that version from the rehearsal?

I was beginning to think I had imagined him referring to that song. It was in an interview about six months after the first album came out so it could very well have been abandoned before much of Further Complications was written and recorded. Wasn't there also another song which he mentioned to the NME, perhaps when he toured South America in Spring 2008, ''The Usual''? He may have played it live there but we didn't hear of it again.
He's reachable (or more likely the researchers for his new radio show are) at jarvis.6music@bbc.co.uk Might be summat to ask him.
It appears the show is a hit! Just checked 6music on iPlayer, & it's number 1 on the most popular shows list. I should have time to listen today or tomorrow, as I'm off work with a broken foot.
I like the chord sequence in the break-down part of the instrumental. I immediately thought of Tunnel when the vocals kicked in, the echo on the mic is a bit off-putting.
Fairly rough-sounding, to be expected from a rehearsal, though even some of the lyrics sound improvised.
Still, will be interesting to hear it properly if it eventually surfaces.
The official version is unreleased - going by Jarvis' press release notes when circulating advance copies of Further Complications in March '09 it was recorded to the same standard as the other songs, i.e. it's not a demo but the 'actual' proper version. So yeah, if people are asking for that, it's er unreleased. Hence the frustration in not being able to hear it.
I thought the live recording was in the yahoo account but maybe not.
I was just reading about this song on pulpwiki and did a search here. Sturdy's link doesn't seem to be working now. Was it an mp3 of the rehearsal footage?
Ah yes, thank you Stephen.
Didn't think to search here from the archive, considering the age of the song or any potential links.
But certainly worth looking into.
