I don't know if it's just on the Universal Deluxe edition, I never noticed it on the original release, but just "The Fear" kicks in on TIH, there is a note, which I thought was just a random note, until i was playing DC, and heard the very last note of "Bar Italia"
It's the same note.
I don't know if it's a mistake on the remasters or what, but it is rather spooky none the less.
They did that for some strange reason it was on the original if you play track 1 but rewind the CD back you hear the last few seconds on Bar Italia. It's a bit naff if you ask me! Especially after they made so much effort to avoid TIH becoming 'Different Class 2'
Yeah, I thought it was just a remaster error as well until I searched back before Track 1 on the original and found it...and it's also at the beginning of the vinyl LP as well.
Agree that it's a bit confusing and pointless really.
Well, even if it was accidental I thought it might be rather significant, you know, a sort of symbolic gesture, the end of "Bar Italia", one split second of grace before the hangover to end all hangovers kicks in and the nightmare, "The Fear" begins.
I think there was a thread about this when the deluxe editions first came. There was confirmation from somewhere that, yes, it was a conceptual decision to show that the "story" of TIH directly proceeds from DC. I like it, especially because I've always felt the end of DC hints towards the direction of disillusionment, etc. that gets fleshed out on TIH.
Jarvis has mentioned it in an interview from around the release of TIS. I recall there was a thread on the board a while back on this but I think it may have been on the old board.
