I saw this on wikipedia...wtf? It's not listed on pulpwiki. Can anyone confirm/deny? I wonder if any of the neanderthals at Rapestock even watched them.
Can't remember them doing Woodstock. It may be a case of the old Wikipedia bollocks - someone may prove me wrong tho... They did do the Tibetan Freedom Concert that year I think. I believe Radiohead donated a bit of their time slot to them or something similar due to a thunderstorm the previous day when they were on the bill. They played 'She's Dead' which I was slightly aghast at.
I can confirm that Pulp did not play Woodstock '99. 1999 was a very low key year for Pulp. They only played 3 shows. One was private. This was the era of the "Quiet Revolution". For those unaware, Woodstock '99 lives in infamy for descending into violence.
Pulp played the Tibetan Freedom Festival in 1998 in Washington DC. There was a lightning storm that killed one or two people the day before Pulp's set. The festival was halted and then resumed the next day, with dramatically shortened sets for all the artists. Pulp played an afternoon set, and it was only 3 songs long. I'm pretty sure it was The Fear, Sorted, and This is Hardcore. I saw some video from the event once, and the crowd looked totally perplexed. Like "who are these fucking guys?"
The night of the lightning incident, Radiohead hosted an impromptu gig at a DC club for Festival-goers. Pulp opened. It was another very short set, and a strange one: She's Dead, Help the Aged and I'm a Man.
Speaking of old songs that were played later... does anyone have a copy of "I Want You" and/or "Anorexic Beauty" live from '98 onwards that they can stick in the yahoo account? I've always been intrested as to what they did with them. If it's not already there I will upload 'Little Girl (With Blue Eyes)' from the Forest Tour.
