The man was on a 5 year sabatical before his dead and just returned with a, indeed mediocre, record. Lennon did write some classic songs. Listen to the Plastic Ono Band album, which is quite emotional and has got some great lyrics.
And, I would even take Harrison over Macca any day.
In an attempt to avoid the grand final of Britain's got Talent, and the delights of Susan Boyle, I've taken my self away from it all, taken your advice, and am listening to Lennon's Plastic Ono Band. I haven't heard in it's entirety for around 10 years now, and all I can say is - what an amazing album! McCartney should have given up when he heard that.
What's wrong with the 'unclean' version? Is anyone here offended by it? Just wondering.
(Oops sorry - made a hash of the quoting on this one - it was Arrgee that asked this, not Fuss Free - sorry)
Nothing wrong with it, but I have heard it. I just want to hear how it gets cleaned up. Cats are still running the world perhaps, you funsters.
Yippie-ki-ay, Mr Falcon!
I've never heard it, but I'd imagine it just artlessly cuts out the offending word (a technique the Melody Maker used to describe as sounding as though rappers were calling from carphones going under lots of bridges). Pulp's "Common People '96" (I think it's that one?) cuts out the word "screw" in that fashion, just leaving a gap; even more hilariously, the unedited version of Do You Remember The First Time? is the very next track on the CD, which contains the offending word in all its glory.

Enough of the McCartney-bashing, yous.
Cunts wouldn't be much of a song without the profanities, they must replace some of the words. One shit, one fuck and umpteen cunts.
Sorry, that was the rogue quoting at work - 'twas addressed to the whole forum. "Yous" (alt: "youse") as in the Scouse plural of "you", directed at more than one person.
Maybe it bleeps them all out, that would be fantastic. Are we sure this definitely exists? It sounds like a joke. Mind, I remember back in the mists of time (what, 13, 14 years ago? Bloody hell) Chris Evans playing a phenomenal "clean" mix of Black Grape's "Shake Your Money". Then again, I also remember the Super Furry Animals getting into the top 30 with "The Man Don't Give A Fuck" and the radio completely refusing to play it, at all, and the chart show simply reading out the name of the band ("A new entry at 23, Super Furry Animals. And at 22...").
Yeah - I got the Scouse plural bit, but was trying to avoid getting started on one of my anti-McCartney rants again. But seeing as it keeps getting brought up...... I can't forgive him for putting his name in front of Lennon's on the songwriting credits in recent years, and worse still, playing Beatles songs at his live shows nowadays. Sacrilege - especially when he sings Lennon's part on Day in the Life. Because of this feeling, I sort of understand where Jarvis is coming from when he won't play any Pulp songs nowadays. But then again, none of the members of Pulp are dead (we hope).
