I think the beard is a bit too Peter Sutcliffe (Jarvis' words, not mine) but I much prefer the way his hair it is now. Was too long and hippyish previously.
I think he'll shave it off in time for tv promo of Girls Like It Too so that a new generation of teenage girls can fall in love with him rather than find him resembling their pervy uncle.
I think it depends on how long he's hair is. If you get used to him having beard and short hair it becomes alright after a while... i prefer short hair and beard over non comb/washed hair.
I prefer the short hair over the longer hair, allthough that had something as well. Perhaps he would shave his beard off after a while, it would look like the WLL days.

Loved this.
Keep the short hair, loose the beard (and the moustache, just to ensure).
When we came to do the shows, a lot of people seemed to think it was very important that I got rid of the beard. There were forum discussions. I thought about it, but I did have a slight fear that I may have developed a double chin in the interim. There could be a jowl under there. So the answer to that question is that I don't think I'm hiding anything.
There's a look for every era, and that's good. I personnally feel like it's some different Jarvis every time. He'd look silly dressed at the 95 cocker, pink tie and stuff.
(and i think Jarvis reads that forum)

How on earth could someone as lean as Jarvis have a sagging jowl? There is nothing to sag! I say he should shave it off as beards with grey patches are ageing. Although he does carry it off better than most men could.
I like the beard but I think it was the long, floppy hair that made it seem that he had a 'sagging chin'. Perhaps with this haircut it might look alright not having a beard

Andy: (and i think Jarvis reads that forum)
- what forum?
And why does everyone I like suddenly have a beard? Jarvis, Neil Hannon, MF Doom, Frankie Boyle, half of the Coens, E from Eels has the king of beards!

There's probably Pulp discussions on other general music forums. who knows. Graham Coxon posts regularly on the Blur forum, Ryan Adams as well on some fan board (sometimes under fake identities). so why not Jarv ? He seem to be the kinda person to play that game...

Oh God, if Jarvis does post on here I've said some really embarrassing stuff this year. In my drunken state at Glasto, I wondered after they walked on stage and Jarvis said "You didn't think we'd let you down do you?" was directed at me after months of moaning about it on here!
I doubt he'd do it though, especially if he's behind the past years' leaks, its best he remains hidden. And in a way it's more fun that way. Bagpipes !
Well, here's the urban dictionary definition of Jazza: Jazza can be used as a nickname for anyone with a first or last name starting with the letters J and A ooo - just maybe....And don't you think 'fascination with teenage girls' sounds a bit wrong?
Isn't it a bit of a give away that I'm not Jarvis when my avatar is me in front of Brixton academy - blatantly not Jarvis? On the other hand your avatar looks close enough, and ambiguous to be Jarvis in disguise
I was toying with the idea of creating a new account on here, username Jarvis, so I could have a bit of fun, but thankfully in the end a) I couldn't be arsed with the new account aggro, b) I decided I'm not quite sad enough yet
Can't find the story corroborated online, but I read how, many years ago (with the Internet in its infancy) someone contributed to a discussion on the meaning of "Blowin' in the Wind" on the Bob Dylan usenet group stating that, contrary to belief, it was just a naive young man's words.
"We disagree" said the group
"But I should know" said the writer, "I wrote it"
"I don't believe you! You're a liar!" (nearly) said the group.
"Alright. I'll prove it. And to prove it I'll play [insert obscure Dylan song here] at my next gig"
And he duly did.

I wish you stopped pretending to be me, really. All i can say is true Pulp fans know i'm the real deal. i'm the Jarv, i'm the Cock, i'm the Jarvis Cocker. Face it... you're not.
Yeah, exponent wasn't the right word was it?! Serves me right for trying to be clever. I know Jarvis has quoted Russell a few times when journalists ask him abut his (Pulp, Jarvis') own music. And if memory serves did he once say ''I'd rather suck off a dog's knob than listen to my own music'' before?!
Even when he went solo he seemed uneasy ''It's like, so low, how low can you go?''

what?? Also, has Russell ever expressed his opinion of TIH or WLL?
He clearly doesn't mind 'Sunrise' though, or at least not the anthemic bit. Oh yes, and he did come out to play violin on Wickerman on the 2nd Brixton night, so I presume he's ok with that song too...?
I suppose, generally, if it's good guitar pop, then Russell's probably ok with it. I'd like to imagine he's ok with the song TIH, as he does - after all - play on I Spy (and always looked like he was enjoying it).
I think it's probably safe to assume that, if it plods, he probably doesn't like it.
