My head stuck in a book last Monday, I panicked when the bus stopped en route to Crouch End and alighted far too early at none other than... Stanhope Road. Is this possibly the location inspiration for Babies? Or is there another in Sheffield (or even dozens in England)?
I like the idea of marking the spot with a blue plaque or something: they did for Leopold Bloom's "birthplace" in Dublin so there is a precedent for fictional characters...
Ah, ta Sturdy. Google maps didn't actually attest to the existence of a Stanhope Road in Sheffield, though that always seemed the likeliest explanation.
Still, isn't an incorrectly placed plaque even more charming, especially for a fictional character?
