Anyone know what font the Pulp logo is based on for the This Is Hardcore album and realated singles?

(It's the logo that's essentially a massive drop shadow)

I have always assumed the TIH logo was just an ordinary font with some creative applications of Photoshop filters. While I'm no expert at Photoshop, I made this (admittedly poor) mock-up in about 15 minutes:
