don't think this has been mentioned but Jarvis played Something Changed and a cover of I Believe In Father Xmas at this comedy gig. First time in a while he's done a pulp song i believe...

He's getting reacquainted with the old Pulp hits to prepare for next year's reunion at Coachella, Glastonbury, Fuji Rock, etc.

Or so I wish.

I don't know why some people are gagging for a Pulp reunion, except that it'd be nice to see them all together onstage again. 5 minutes looking at tracklistings of old bootlegs suggests that they really were never big on trotting out the oldies. In 1995 they were playing no songs that were more than three years old, and quite right too. With obvious exceptions, it was alwas more likely for them to focus on playing newer stuff live rather than rifle through the back catalogue. Yeah they kept playing Babies for 10 years, but that was a real anomaly. And Common People stayed in the set of course, but post-1996 they were keen to bastardise it in whatever way they could - anything but do the Britpop jukebox thing.

Maybe I'm speaking out of turn here, but I wonder if part of the reason Jarvis went solo in the first place was to get away from any remaining obligation he might have felt to play older Pulp songs. If Pulp got back together, there'd be no greatest hits tour. Of course it'd be very strange for them not to play some old songs, but the main focus would surely be new music.

Besides which, surely we were all sick to death of hearing Babies and Something Changed by the time Pulp called it a day?

Speak for yourself. They screwed America by never touring here. Last time they played California was 1996.  And don't forget about new fans that have come on board over the past six years, too.  And the fans that just want to hear their favorite band live again.

Jarvis said in billboard last year that he wasn't opposed to a reunion, just didn't feel like doing it at the time.  And nobody had driven up with a van full of cash yet.

I'd like to see a Pulp reunion, simply because they are my favourite band. I must admit that I was getting tired of a few of their songs towards the end though and agree it was time to give it a rest. I am however, lovin' Jarvis' solo stuff. Really looking forward to the new album and if he starts throwing a few Pulp songs into his set then I'm well up for it!

I love Jarvis solo stuff. I do undertsnad him missing out the Pulp songs; it's lke Supergrass who never play Allright anymore; people are sick of it and it suggests your new stuff and other songs aren't good enough; when clearly they are.

HOWEVER I have never seen Pulp as I wasn't into the music scene, let alone Pulp when they were touring. Mainly down to my age. Would love to hear some old Pulp songs!

PS; I love your name, Bort. "We are out of Bort name plates; I repeat we are OUT of Bort name plates" smile

No, my son is also named Bort!

And currently there are rumors of them playing Coachella next year, but I really doubt it. Sad panda.

I very much doubt it too. I'm hoping Jarvis will do the festival rounds this year though, to promo the album, as I will be attending my first (and probably last!) Glastonbury. A bit of early evening Jarvis would make my weekend complete! If not then I can make do with Blur.
