As has been said, I don't think the England 1994 boot is actually a recording of the Aston Villa Leisure Centre show - I thought it was a wonky copy of the Fiction Romance boot, recorded on the same tour at Alexandra Palace. I don't have England 1994, but I do have Fiction Romance, and it's great. Seeing as how it's not commercially available, I'll upload it tonight. Someone who's got England 1994 can compare the two concerts?
Edit: OK, I'm posting it in the baritalia2006 account. It doesn't look like this is the account of choice any more, given the lack of posts in there... which one are you all using? Anyway, it's up there now.
Edit edit: Except for His 'n' Hers, my mp3 of which is 12MB in size and Yahoo! will only let me attach a 10MB file. Balls. Suggestions?
'Fiction Romance' and 'England 1994' are definitely from the same source. On PulpWiki I have indicated that this source is the Radio 1 broadcast from Aston Villa Leisure Centre. Reading this thread, I must admit that I may have been wrong in that assumption. However, the BBC broadcast does seem the most probable source to me. The recording is good quality suggesting either an FM radio or soundboard source. There are very few soundboard recordings of Pulp in circulation, and it just seems too much of a coincidence that one would exist for the Alexandra Palace show, when a whole concert from Aston Villa was broadcast on FM radio just two days before.
Also, in the past, when trading recordings, I have found that October 94 shows labelled as 'Aston Villa Leisure Centre' and 'Alexandra Palace' have turned out to be the same recording. If 'Fiction Romance' isn't from the BBC broadcast, does anybody have a recording of that broadcast? It's hard to believe it wasn't recorded and circulated.
Blur's headline set at Alexandra Palace was recorded and released on VHS, wasn't it? So maybe a soundboard recording of Pulp's set is not that unlikely.
Furthermore, I didn't hear the original broadcast, but didn't Radio 1 usually intersperse their live concert broadcasts with station idents or DJs going "You're listening to Pulp live and exclusive on Radio 1" or whatever?
Interesting, though. I've never seen a copy of England 1994, whereas Fiction Romance was quite widespread (reviewed on the original Space) and with the reports of the dodgy slowed-down sound, I just assumed that Fiction Romance was the "original" and England 1994 the imitator.
I should also point out that the Fiction Romance box makes numerous other errors, both in a potted Engrish biography of the band (I think it was made by an Italian bootlegger?) and in the tracklisting itself (it claims She's A Lady is on there instead of OU, f'instance), so it's perhaps not to be trusted.
Edit: I meant She's A Lady, not Razzmatazz. Razzmatazz is of course on there, seeing as how I've uploaded it and everything. Doh. Sorry about that, it was getting late.
yeah but Jarvis refers during the concert to the venue being " like a carpet showroom", and makes a reference to Blur too - so I am thinking that Fiction Romance is correct with the location, and that England 1994 is the same recording of Fiction Romance - but mislocated.

Wow, thanks for this! The quality is really good, and they really seem to be on form. You could always upload His 'n' Hers to yousendit.com and post the link up here?
I posted His n hers in the baritalia2006 account, but unfortunately it's 128 kbps, still better than nothing. I don't hear the difference, although i'm sure there will be...

Furthermore, I didn't hear the original broadcast, but didn't Radio 1 usually intersperse their live concert broadcasts with station idents or DJs going "You're listening to Pulp live and exclusive on Radio 1" or whateverGood point. I suppose the bootlegger could have edited them out though.

Is Alexandra Palace "like a carpet showroom"? Possibly. But I think that comment could apply to other venues as well.
Anyway, basically I think it could be either venue. I will change what I wrote on Pulpwiki to make that clear.
By the way, I don't have a copy of the Fiction Romance artwork. Does it actually say the venue is Alexandra Palace, or just 'recorded live on tour' or something.
God that recording of Cuckoo Song sounds great!! Can't wait until it finally is in full circulation. I have a fair amount of bootlegs for trading, but nothing I'd imagine that's worth a Cuckoo! ;)
