I've seen a cd on ebay purporting to be a mispressed live ep with the Disco 2000 sleeve. I'm sorely tempted to bid. Can anyone share any info? Any one got one? Many thanks!smile

Working entirely from memory here, as all the files are on several broken PCs at home - it's to do with the German version of the single - the "proper" German edition has a live rendition of Sorted for E's & Wizz on it as a bonus B-side, but some of the CDs were pressed up incorrectly and replaced *all* the tracks with live ones from the same gig - Sorted, Do You Remember The FIrst Time?, a splendid rendition of Pencil Skirt, and I Spy. IIRC the CDs are identical except for different batch pressing numbers on the edges of the discs, or something. Have a look at Acrylic Afternoons or the wiki, this should be enough information to start searching in earnest.

I can understand the need of information as this item is a rarity, but it is available on the market - so is it needed to be uploaded to the account? I am an owner of the single, and its exactly as Steve has described - and yes they are great renditions - but I just cant but help feel that the value in the item will be significantly reduced if everyone can just download it? Not being arsey there but just feel the item will not be "a part of the holy grail" of any pulp fans collection of cds and vinyls

"value in the item"???

I prefer the value of the music. I can understand not uploading material that is going to cause a loss to the artist, but this is a rarity that all fans should be able to hear. Well, that's my opinion anyway, you're entited to your own. Sorry if you feel your CD is worth less now/making your collection less l33t

That is such a painfully selfish attitude. Anyone who is interested enough to WANT to listen to it SHOULD be able to listen to it. It shouldn't be restricted to the few people who have enough money to bid on this stuff when it comes up on ebay, or who has enough money to trail record fairs etc. I don't care about the value of your collection, but I do care about the fact that there are lots of people who would like to hear it. You don't own the actual music, it's not up to you to decide who can and can't listen to it. So basically, fuck off with your elitist views, you are, without a doubt, being "arsey".

From an opinion of my own, to an opinion of Loz's - two different sides of opinion to which everyone is entitled to and I respect Loz's view, to respond to Loz, its not a case of me losing a rarity its not that which is the issue, I was just commenting on preserving what little physical media rarities that exist for Pulp, and I have taken on your view and can see where your coming from - HOWEVER to publicly insult someone on a forum for having an opinion on something which was not insulting anyone etc is out of order Calumlynn,

It is typical of the english public of todays day and age.....wanting everything for free.......and when someone stands against something, they get knocked for it. All I was stating was the protection of something.................. to all of them Pulp fans who have waited for some time to get that " gem " of their personal collection - this is the scenario I was trying to put over.....I remember when I bought My Lighthouse, it got treated with the upmost respect, and I treasure it to this day - the buzz, the thrill of purchasing something which you have been after for some time is second to none. THATS THE VALUE OF AN ITEM - where it means something to YOU.

This mispressed Disco 2000 single cost me, 5 pound..............I mean, its such a dent to the wallet. It is still a rarity.....and has been in existance since 1996. Only now because you have the attitude of " What people want, they should get" attitude, that you have to lower the tone and slag someone off publicly online. Does that really make you feel so good in yourself, the fact that you have a screen in front of you so you can mock someone for defending something?

You dont care about my collection? Ok, great ! I am not bothered that you dont care about my collection of every single release on vinyl, cd etc....nor do I care about your "collection" if you own any vinyls, cds, itune files etc......The only people who would be interested to hear the live tracks from the mispress are the anoracks of the pulp world to which I am one - and proud to be one. Joe Public from Nowhere will not know that there is a mispressed Pulp single....... the only people who know are the FANS. Would it really hurt you to pay 5 pound for a CD? Didnt think so......

The Killers released Sawdust - a b sides and rarities album, and this had a mispress where Move Away was issued as the demo version, Only the fans on the Killers forum knew that it was the demo version.......to which I am a part of. When I speak to my friends who BOUGHT Sawdust, they didnt know about it as it got reissued with the proper version, and untill they were told, they didnt have a clue and even so, were not bothered by it - but yet they bought the album because "they wanted to hear it".

Now, where am I being arsey again? You dont agree with what I have said? Well like it or lump it, I am not changing my opinion for the sakes of you.....but what I do recommend is that you edit your message and remove any insult you have made towards me as it was unprovoked and uncalled for. Is there no one that can hold a grown up discussion without the need of slagging someone off? Todays society stinks.

in defence of scott, he's been known to generously share some monster pulp gems over the years.  so,  he's entitled to opinions on how to handle the spiget.  moreover, he's one of the most dedicated pulp fans here.

you know, courtesy, i think they used to called it.

I'm not saying "what people should want, they should get". You were talking about YOUR record collection, and how YOU would be affected by the uploading of that. Whichever way you look at it, it's completely selfish. I'm sorry for telling you to fuck off, and I don't agree that anyone should get whatever they want easily, but I also don't think that you deserve this stuff more than anyone else. The value of the item isn't lowered at all. For example, I can own a photocopy of an autograph and I can see what autograph looks like, but it's not the same as owning the actual piece of paper on which it was signed.

To me, an MP3 is only a taster, because you have to own the genuine article for it actually to mean something. I'm sure it's the same for anyone who is, as you said in your post, a fan. And if only fans are going to be interested, and if fans regard the music as only half of the package, then where exactly is the harm in uploading an MP3? I regularly re-buy albums on vinyl when they come up on ebay, by loads of different bands I like. MP3 is souless.
