i think recent artists i enjoy are caroline polachek, perfume genius, weyes blood, mr twin sister, john maus. older stuff in my rotation ranges, eno, sparks, roxy music, the smiths, s uicide, prince. i LOVE YMO. i will say there is some dude in my larger social circle that feels somewhat pulp-esque in terms of seediness, in a 2023 revivalist indie sleaze kind of way, called 'the dare' who ive been listening to a bit lately? but otherwise i dont think much of the music i like has a lot in common with pulp weirdly either
I discovered an artist called Andrew Cushin as I clicked him on YouTube by mistake. I liked what I heard so started following him and bought what was available. I also went to see him live earlier this year. He has worked with Peter Doherty and Liam Gallagher and has recently released an album which made number 69. I think that, with a bit more promotion through a major label, he will be quite big in future.
My second favourite band, after Pulp. And yes, I'm acutely aware of how utterly incompatible the two choices are. Jarvis, Nick & co would surely disown me, but hey...

Sparks was sheer joyful pandemonium!! The reaction in Brisbane for them was amazing - They were taken aback. Last show of their world tour. I'm on such a high this morning!! Its funny the last 2 nights I've seen Paul McCartney and then Sparks - 2 icons.
