...was apparently played at Monterrey in Mexico on the first of his brief Latin American tour the other night going by a fan's comment on his myspace page.
No surprises on the choice, he always performed Something Changed with Pulp whilst playing the acoustic guitar himself (prancing around the stage to Pink Glove as a solo singer was never really likely!).
The whole set-list of the gig would be interesting to scan, so we can see if any new material was aired. I've been trying to dig out local reviews that my rusty Spanish could try and make sense of but I can't find anything.
Sorry to Scully you, but I doubt it actually happened. "Thankyou for Something Changed" in a PS is probably literally a thankyou for the song itself. Rather than "Wow! I can't believe you played Something Changed last nite", which would of course indicate a performance! Having said so, I do agree it's probably the most likely Pulp song to get into his solo set. Can anyone confirm or deny that he played it? I too would love to see a propper setlist.
Yeah, you might be right actually as I did see a couple of comments in Spanish on lastfm about the gig and someone seemed to say that no Pulp stuff was played.
We really need a Central/South American correspondant for the next week to keep us reliably informed!
You'd think NME could actually provide proper feedback on this sort of small gig but they seem to rely on audience members and fans like us rather than reporting on small gigs properly, if at all!
As much as i don't like the new NME, they cant be blamed for not having someone there just for the gig. A fan report is more than enough for that kinda stuff and it's actually quite funny reading people's view. And at least, we got some real update about Jarvis
There were no Pulp songs in Mexico i'm quite sure about that. I've read this setlist from a Last.Fm user. Dont know how accurate it is:
Fat Childen DLHWYT Unknown Cover Unknown Cover Unknown Cover Unknown Cover * Heavy Weather Tonite I Will Kill Again Disney Time Black Magic Running the World
19th Nervous Breakdown Paranoid
*not sure really about those four covers in a row. Maybe he played the new songs or maybe some b-sides
hrmm, if, as someone said in another thread, 'hey joe' is a cover, then from the setlist on the nme site it seems he only played one new song 'girls like it too' 'cos surely 'sooner or later' is actually 'big stuff'???
Oh god, I feel guilty now!! Thanks for the NME report, I'm quite imprssed now that they posted this setlist.
Sorry to sound completely clueless but Sooner or Later, is this a b-side, I've not heard of this song before and I though Hey Joe and Girls like it Too were the only new ones?
I'm not a pretend be a really correspondant but last night I went to see the last concert of Jarvis in Latin America (Santiago, Chile. 15.03.08), and the set list was:
- Fat Children - Don't let him waste your time - Heavy Weather - One man show -I will kill again - Girls Like it too - Tonite - Big Julie - Disney Time - Big Stuff - Black Magic - Cunts
The covers were:
- Fucking Song (excuse my ignorance but I have not idea of whom is the original song) - Starman (from Bowie)
I think that the set list for the others Latin American concerts were similar, except foor the covers: in Monterrey: plays: Paranoid from Black Sabbath and 19th Nervous Breakdown from the Rolling Stones; in the MX Beat play Hey Joe from J. Hendrix; in Buenos Aires the first night plays: Little Green Bag of George Baker Selection and Purple Haze of Hendrix again and the second night Lola of The Kinks..
I just registered here (I don't know why I didin't do it before) I'm from Chile and I can assure u that Jarvis didn't play any Pulp song during his Central/South American tour. I know some people who know some people from Argentina and Mexico and they said that Jarvis didn't play Pulp songs but some covers and two new songs (at least in Mexico).
Here in Chile, as it is posted before, he played only one new song which is amazing.
Uhm... another thing u might want to know. Some friends went to the hotel, where Jarvis was staying, after the concert (I was almost dead, that's why I didn't go), and Jarvis and some people from the band appeared and played some songs for them there in the lobby (a kind of acoustic session just for them). They said it was amazing and he played just covers like Paranoid.
