I had heard before that it was a clip of Rolf Harris at the end of Countdown (from here I think) demonstrating the stylophone anyway. I have in interest in stylophones (I have the 350S big version in my keyboard setup) so that's why I was listening to that clip. I'm a geek...I know! :) I didn't realise that it was the same record that the sample was taken from though.
If you want a stylophone, they have just made reproduction versions of them that they have been selling through HMV stores I think? I've heard some clips of them though and don't think they sound quite as authentic as the original versions though. You can get them quite easily on eBay though!
I love the way that Rolf tries to make the lack of a proper volume control sound like a good thing, by suggesting that you can cup your hand over the speaker to make some 'great effects'! Like it's actually some kind of special feature!
I got a (repro) Stylophone this week. I love it! It's really funny when I do the riff from Money For Nothing on it. But I've actually written a (very simple) accompanyment to one of my songs on it, which I intend to record. So I'm really using it, it's not just a toy (-: Who can tell me which of the settings is based on the original version?
(Also started to learn the violin yesterday. I think it'll be a few (hundred) years before I can play Separations tho'!)
