Ok Ok I know I'm to young to have ever seen Pulp,,but I don't get why anyone is fucking bothered anyway...I mean I do like Pulp..common People is catchy and has some good refrences to being skint and love the bit about marrying a jewish girl...(I'm a Jewish girl by the way in Cardiff)...I hate the comments with Manners and Steve Havehand...I don't think its the real members from the old days just wind up funnies that pretend to be important....god why don't you get a life pranksters...Anyway what is the fuss about britpop (shitpop) it made no sense....and I hate oasis....but love pulp.......Manners and Havehand ...fuck off you lieing pretenders.....this is hardcore!!!!!!
I don't think either myself or Peter are trying to wind anyone up Stephanie. Why you'd want to tell us both to fuck off is beyond me though, perhaps you're having a bad day & all that.

Steph xx
Why have a confrontational post like this as your first? Whether they are the real deal or not is irrelevant; I have pretended to be someone I'm not on boards (however I suspect they are). If you had seen Pulp at their peak (1992-1995), you'd be bothered.
Also the girl in Common People came from Greece. Given there are only about 5000 jews in Greece (probably more in Cardiff), the chances of one Jewish Grrek girl being the subject of the song are, err, remote. And as for marriage? Have you heard the song?
Ok Steve, time to close the board. Stephanie has spoken.....
Perhaps you maybe less confused if you joined a message board with a subject matter you are intrested in?
It's great Pete & Steven are around. It means this board has an even greater wealth of info than it did before they turned up and I'm sure they both enjoy sharing their stories and mixing with those who love something that they were a part of.
And hey... If I was gonna pretend to be someone I'm not I'd probably go for the top dog!
Anyway.... I'm off to www.ChurchOfEngland.co.uk - My screen name is 'Jesus Christ' over there.
Oddly enough, I'm in Cardiff, and my name is only one letter away from "Stephanie". I'm neither Jewish nor female, though.
Anyway, I don't think they're wind-up merchants pretending to be other people, because I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and if it's a wind-up it's a very well-executed and incredibly oblique one - I mean, why would anyone go to so much trouble? It's not like they're going for our bank details or anything.
Pulp are my favourite band, that's why I'm bothered. I can't speak for anyone else of course.
But then again. Maybe Jarvis, Candida or Mark would be wind ups too. Not saying that Havenhand or the other guy are wind ups. Can't see why the would. But also can't see why bother going to a board full of people who are interested in a band you once have spend time in, but didn't really contribute too. Or did you play on an album? I must confess that I don't know much about Pulp prior to 1994, so please don't be offended if I marginise your role in the band.

Wickerman - Manners was the bass player on the Freaks album and the Masters of the Universe era singles. Steven Havenhand was the bass player after Manners, from late '86 to early '88 - he didn't play on any albums but played quite a lot of gigs with Pulp and did some unreleased studio recordings with them.
As to why come on here, I guess that's a matter for them. I'm glad they're around though. I don't really get what your point is when you say "why bother going to a board full of people who are interested in a band you once have spend time in" etc etc - presumably you were never a member of Pulp at all, but that's not stopping you from posting here!

Aahw, thanks for telling me where and when they played with the band.
But, on your second thing, I'm posting here because I like Pulp's music and I love Jarvis his new album. I want to talk with other people about the albums and the songs. I guess the most of the people are here because of the same reason. Havenhand and Manners are here to talk about the band, as ex-members, and stuff like that. I'm fine with it, it's great to have someone around who was in the band if I would have any questions about the songs they played on. So, I'm pleased with having them around.
I remember a time on the Ryan-Adams.org board when Ryan came in to give us some posts about his plans. Many of them doubted it was really Ryan, so I can understand why the starter of this topic is a bit suspicious.
