That wouldn't explain why there's a white label of the single with a Gift catalogue number though! That suggests that this pre-release copy of the record was pressed up by Gift, with a view to Gift releasing it.

Way ahead of you all. I sent an email to this guy a day or two ago, and he got back in touch saying that he had simply mislabelled the plain sleeve as being "Countdown" himself. The writing on the actual label is just PULP. He tried playing it, and it was O.U. and has rectified the listing.
By the way, my mp3 player was on shuffle the other day and your (ex?) band's rendition of OU came on. Have you tried your hand at any more material recently? I'm still waiting for you to go crazy on 'The Boss'.

Haha. Oh god...you have that on your mp3 player?? :)
That band is looooooooong dead. The band I've been in for the last year or so is Dogstand : www.myspace.com/dogstand
Don't really do covers though...apart from a couple of DRAMATIC reworkings of I'm Not In Love by 10CC, and If You Go Away by Jacques Brel. Shame, because I'd love to play The Boss live. I'll fulfil that dream someday I'm sure. I still jump around to it in my bedroom from time to time, mashing my hands on the keyboard for all I'm worth. :)
Well record it next time. Or try Can I Have My Balls Back Please? or We Can Dance Again. You have those Candida synth swirls down to a tee on OU, it would be a shame to pack it in. 10cc and Scott Walker sounds good though.
It's a shame indeed, especially as I actually have a Farfisa Professional these days...the genuine article...so that climbing chord sequence on O.U. would sound 100% authentic. ;)
