If by this, you are referring to everyone on this forum refusing to send you free music then you should take note of the fact that everyone who registers here are true Pulp/Jarvis fans. We respect our favourite artist.

If people simply give away their music they don't make any royalities. If everyone did that then they would have no income! They have families and babies mouths to feed!

For example - if you went into a record shop and bought an album for £10. The artist would be luck to get 10% of that after all the middle men have had their hand in the pot. That's £1!!! Now split that that between 6 members of Pulp! Not much is it?

Everyone downloads dodgy stuff. If you want it - u will find it on the internet. Just put the bloody work in to find it!!!!

I have no problem with sharing live or rare material that they band aren't going to make any money out of anyway but as an artist myself, I'd be really pissed off if peeps started giving away my music without my permission!

Therefore it would be inappropiate and disrespectful to share widely available material from my idol and my biggest inspiration on a forum which celebrates him!

Hope this helps!

Personally, I'm not really bothered about downloads one way or the other, but I'd really, really prefer it if people didn't ask for them on my site, and then repeatedly ignore me telling them to stop it and continue to argue the toss. Here is why:

(a) that's the kind of thing that leads semi-literate morons at big labels to, for instance, mistake the site for some kind of filesharing hub and write to your ISP asking them to close the site down. For instance.

(b) that's the kind of thing that leads semi-literate morons at big labels to, for instance, instruct their solicitors to send out pissy "cease and desist" letters threatening actual legal consequences to the person whose site it is, and whose name and home address are freely available, and which are something of a pain in the backside if that person is, for instance, trying to qualify as a lawyer. For instance.

A helpful note for all visitors, then. When I say "we don't condone illegal filesharing here", that's not an invitation to debate the finer points of IP law (as if any IP case in the history of the world has been decided by calm, rational evaluations from people with a firm grasp of how the internet works), or provide long, rambling explanations of why you think piracy is perfectly justified. Don't mistake me for a major label stooge or one of the Piracy Is Theft brigade, just understand that it's not open to discussion *here*. At all. Ever.

As for Heady, if I say "Don't talk about illegal filesharing on my personal site, because it will land me in the shit. Thank you", and you reply by telling me I'm mistaken and carry on doing it some more, and I tell you to stop it and lock the thread with the following words:

Heady, I won't warn you again. Whatever my own opinions on the subject, discussion of illegal downloads and file-sharing is not allowed on this forum, and linking to places you can obtain pirate copies of Pulp records is just asking for trouble.

...and you post a brand new one expressly for the purpose of baiting me with sarcastic smileys, you can't really complain about becoming the first human ever to be banned from the forum. And I was *so* prepared to give you one more chance until, quite honestly, the laughing smiley pushed you over the edge.

Sorry to everyone else if this seems like an absurd hissy fit, abuse of power, display of jobsworth syndrome or whatever. I think I was more than patient enough, but I just can't risk any more trouble.
