WEST COAST AND NYC TOUR DATES

from pitchfork:

Jarvis Cocker is coming...to North America. The debonair Pulp frontman will support the Stateside release of his debut solo album, Jarvis, with a string of performances surrounding his appearance at Coachella on April 27.

Only four dates are scheduled so far-- one in New York City and three on the West Coast-- but there's a nice, convenient four-day stretch in between the NYC show and Coachella, so, what say you to a little Midwest stopover, eh, Jarv?

As previously reported, Jarvis is out in America April 3 on Rough Trade/World's Fair. Before heading to our shores, Cocker will play a few UK shows in February.

Dates:

02-15 Sheffield, England - The Plug
02-16 Sheffield, England - The Plug
02-17 London, England - Astoria
02-19 Manchester, England - Academy
02-20 Glasgow, Scotland - ABC
04-23 New York, NY - Webster Hall
04-27 Indio, CA - Empire Polo Field (Coachella)
04-28 San Francisco, CA - Fillmore
04-30 Seattle, WA - Showbox
05-01 Vancouver, British Columbia - Commodore

I'm surprised he's skipping Chicago once again, especially now, considering Chicago has become the center of the music blogging universe.

Any Torontoans want to team up for a little road trip?

Road tip to New York or Vancouver?
Even though New Yorks closer, might be cheaper to Vancouver? When all is said and done?

NY is cheaper.  flights to Van are way overpriced since jetsgo collapsed.  you might lose $20 on your hotel, or the exchange.  but it's driving distance if you want to be really serious about it.

I'm glad to split gas and expenses to NYC and back. We could either split up once we're there or  stick together. Doesn't really matter to me. I'll probably stay in a hostel or crash with some friends... unless hotwire has some cheap hotel rates. Last time I was in NYC (for Pulp, '98) our hotel was $285 and it wasn't much better than a hostel.

Flights from Buffalo are reasonable though, so maybe I'll do that.

Anyway... first thing's first... getting tickets. When do they go on sale. I promise you they will sell out in less than an hour.

FYI -

The West Coast shows are in much more intimate venues.

The Fillmore San Francisco: Capacity 1250
Seattle Showbox: Capacity 1100
Vancouver Commodore: Capacity 900

Webster Hall: Capacity 2400

Webster Hall is some sort of 4-story Mega-Club. The website is covered with photos of sweaty kids and Steven Tyler, and they have a weekly "ladies' night" (always a bad sign). Jarvis is probably the only person in the world who could get me to go to a place like that.
