Musically, yeah, it probably is. Brett has a strong voice... But unlike Jarvis, Brett has nothing to say. This song is just more of the same arty-gothy-fashiony-androgynous nonsense he's been doing now for over a decade.
Perhaps you should know that "Scorpio Rising" is a the name an experimental film by Kenneth Anger about gay bikers. It starts with a guy metaphorically stroking himself to a James Dean poster and it ends with a violent orgy. It's probably the most obvious movie Brett Anderson could ever possibly write a song about.
Brett REALLY needs to change his lyrical bucket...in the early days of Suede his lyrics were still gobbledy gook, but they were at least Bowie-esque wierd goobly gook, now they are sparse and laboured.
I always thought that Brett and Jarvis would do a great collaboration, with verses by Jarvis and a chorus by Brett , he's very good at melodic choruses.
I agree, as much as I adore androgynous men (and Brett) but this sounds exactly like what I expected. Acoustic Suede. Then again it is nice that some things never change.
