I don't know if this has been mentioned before but I've just been reading on an Air Message Board that Jarvis is to sing on a track on their new album due out January 2007.
That would be yet another collaboration with them after the whole album they did together with C. Gainsbourg. I don't get it; I find Air rather dull for the most part. I wonder if Cocker really likes them, or if they're just the only big thing going in the Paris area.
its cool to like air, not only in paris, but everywhere. not that they've done anything amazing, they're overrated, that's for sure, but i guess a few artists are like that, whatever they do (beck, pj harvey....)
I have no idea what any of that meant. I couldn't care less about what's "cool" or what's "overrated", and I'm pretty sure Mr. Cocker couldn't, either. I'm just saying I don't get excited about listening to Air very often. I like 5:55 a lot, but what I wouldn't give to hear it with music by Cocker rather than Air. Of course he's been too busy for that, anyway, and to get two albums with almost all lyrics by J.C. in 2006 is quite amazing, so I'm not complaining.

Sadly, most people are not like you.
im sure jarvis genuinly loves air, but that was not the aim of your question, if i got it right. i was just answering to your "air in paris" question, that's it.
I've noticed that, too, Steve, looking back. I was hoping no one had noticed. Sorry for my impatience, Andy. Actually my question is about whether J.C. likes Air, but only he can answer that. I seriously doubt that he loves them.
Because they're a bit dull, and he's the opposite of dull. They cater to a different sort of listener. I've studied his influences and the sort of thing he's into. My taste is very similar to his, I like to think, so I'm guessing that if I think they're dull, he probably would, too. It's just a guess, of course, but especially after having listened to his mix tape this year, I feel like I really know what he's into. It's entirely possible that there's something he really likes that I think is not so great, and vice versa. ;)
Don't pretend to know what Jarvis likes. He's not that easy. And just because he put "X" band on his mix tape, don't presume that that's the limit to his taste or his influences. Did you know, for instance, that he likes that song "Crush" by Jennifer Paige? (Don't remember it? It was a big one hit wonder from 1999. The chorus was something like: "It's just, another crush, not like I faint, everytime we touch"). He's also said he likes Puff Daddy.
I'm just saying.
Anyway, for all we know, he might love Air. Maybe he loves Air because they are go out for drinks with him on Saturday nights. Maybe he thinks they have good taste in other people's music. Maybe he just likes the soundtrack to "The Virgin Suicides".
Anyway, it's canadian thanksgiving, and I have a bottle of wine in my belly, and I'm feeling a bit confrontational. So, in the morning maybe i'll edit this post.
Well, you're right, of course, FF. That's why I used the winky, which I only pull out when I really need it. I know I'm a bit presumptuous, but trying to figure out what J.C. likes has opened my ears to so many kinds of music, it blows me away. I don't take it that seriously. Well, maybe sometimes.
I have always liked "Playground Love". Happy Thanksgiving!
