I see that the new Bar Italia site is under construction. I just wondered if it would be a good idea to make it as a Pulp-specific Wiki (much like wikipedia)? In that way, everyone could collaborative write info to the site, add their own reviews under Steves and add their knowledge to specific songs and more. I have used this myself on other websites and am very satisfied.
For more info, check out for example MediaWiki

I've been away on holiday, so I've only just found this thread.

Over the last couple of months I've been experimenting with the idea of a wiki-type site dedicated to Pulp. The results can be seen by clicking on the link Ian posted above. I haven't mentioned it anywhere before because it is still in the early stages of development.

I'd certainly be interested to read what people think about the site and also, in general, whether you think a Pulp wiki site is worth doing.

And obviously, feel free to edit or add to what's already there.

I can't view the band members on that Pulp Wiki ^

Everything else seems okay though.

That's because those pages don't actually exist yet. Note the little question marks by those links, they are there to indicate that the pages don't exist.

I will add pages for the bands members eventually (unless someone else is kind enough to do it first).

That looks fantastic, Will. I'm excited. I advertised it on last.fm.

It would be really great if all the Pulp info (steves reviews and stuff like that) from the old Bar Italia site could be put into the/a wiki.

Sure would! But that would be stealing Steve's thunder, and he wouldn't have anything left to do (assuming he's still working on it).

Yes, I'm still working on it. Pulp keep putting out records which necessitate the rewriting of several suddenly-outdated pages. How inconsiderate of them!

Anyway, for sure nick whatever information you want (most of it was nicked from elsewhere in the first place), and use the lyric transcriptions if you like (though a credit might be nice - I put a lot of effort into some of them, working out things like the correct numbers of ohs and ahs and mms and yeahs, or trying to "transcribe" weird Jarvis noises - and a good few of them were done by other people, so I'd be a bit peeved if their credits weren't ported across), but you can't have my reviews. Sorry.

Hmm, I may be alone in this, but I can do without reading every little sound uttered by a vocalist in a lyric sheet. I appreciate your work, but If they didn't include it when they wrote the lyrics down on their sleeves and their website, it just isn't needed. And I don't like to see a chorus written down more than once unless it changes significantly from one round to the next, particularly if it's repeated back-to-back. What purpose does it serve? Just my opinion.

Because it amuses me. I like finding differences between the printed lyrics and what's actually on the record, and noting down any flubs or apparent ad-libs. I've no interest in duplicating whatever transcriptions are already written "on their sleeves and their website". Those are already on their sleeves, and their website. As for choruses... well, I don't really like to see someone write "(Chorus x3)" or what have you, unless repetition is the nature of the song (e.g. Srpski Jeb, That Boy's Evil). I like to think that having the whole thing transcribed in detail increases confidence in the rest of it being correct, as opposed to whatever's on the nth Google-pondweed mirror/copy of HitSuperPopLyrics.net or something.

Anyway, it's my way and I like it. Sorry you don't. Let's hope a war doesn't break out or something.

Oh, not at all; that's fine. I may be entirely alone in my preference.
