From gigwise...

Jarvis Cócker has announced his first ever solo UK date set for this November.

The former Pulp man will be playing London’s Koko on November 15, tickets are on sale now.

Cócker’s first solo single ‘Running The World’ is available now for download and is set to be given a physical release shortly via Rough Trade.

A full album is also expected.

Where the hell is Koko? Shouldn't he be packing out at least Shepherds Bush or The Forum? Or maybe he wants to start off low-key.

What are you waiting for southerners, get your tickets!

Re the single getting a proper release - is there any point? It's already available on download and radio wont play it unless it's heavily edited which would surely compromise the entire premise of the song?
Oh well, hopefully it's got a funny video and some b-sides to go with it...

Koko is in Camden, and I expect he'll be happy enough to have a small benue packed out rather than a larger one not quite full. Annoying that it's on a Wednesday, or I'd have considered making a jaunt over for the occasion. Still, it's the best indication yet of a release date - I'd say we're looking at late November.

Yeah I might send him a message on MySpace advising an early October release. For his own good, you see.

Im just wondering what he's gonna play at his gig-surely he cant only play from the new record, we only know one song! (Unless it's out by then!)
So guesses on what else he'll do?
Pulp? RM? Potter?
I have an inkling he might do I Want You or Lyndhurst Grove toward the end...ideas?

He has recorded an album's worth of songs, so the setlist will probably be filled mostly with them. I suppose it is conceivable that some Pulp songs could be played. If so, probably more obscure stuff.

I guess it's likely that the live band will be similar to the line-up who have played on the record - ie. Richard Hawley (guitar), Steve Mackey (bass) and Ross Orton (drums). I'm not sure who would be on keyboards.

I think it'll depend on who he is taking with him as a band. Will it be guitar-bass-drum then we must expect a Pulp/Jarvis thing. Is there a more RM line up, then we must expect a more Harry Potter/Relaxed Muscle outing.

I guess it would be Jarvis solo songs, including some Pulp songs.

I don't think there will be any Pulp songs.  Whenever an artist goes solo they tour with all the new stuff.  But then a few years down the line they start to delve into the back catalogue.

Expect a run through of the new album. And little else.

I would normally agree with you, Eamonn, but in this case, Jarvis has a lot to promote: his solo album, the Pulp special editions, and the Peel sessions disk. The Charlotte Gainsbourg stuff. He might even pull out a Harry Potter song.

The aforementioned Cocaine Socialism seems like an obvious choice, given Jarv's recent change of opinion toward it. I also wouldn't be surprised to hear Duck Diving, since Jarv has been doing all those children's stories for Itunes. Maybe Charlotte will show up at the Paris show to perform a song or two if she can overcome her stage fright.

I doubt it'll be a very "rocking" show though. It'll probably be a laid-back affair. How big are the venues?

I think it'd be cool if he threw in some softer Pulp songs -- "Little Girl (with Blue Eyes)", "Something Changed," maybe even "Blue Girls." I think those songs would fit in well with the new ones.

Richard Ashcroft did preform The Verve songs in the beginning of his solo carreer.
