For a moment, I thought this would be about the disappearing background. Fear not, it'll all be back up in a few days, I'm just changing hosting providers and using the opportunity to finish off a couple of things.
Anyway. "Black Session" is a French radio programme which features live bands, kind of analogous to doing a Peel session but with the bands performing on stage for a small audience as opposed to in a studio. Pulp were on a few times in the early 90s, performing a variety of stuff and usually including a unique cover each time. Once the site's back up and running, have a look at the "radio" archive page, it lists what they performed on what dates.
I've seen these for sale at the FranceInter website for about $40 + shipping.. expensive but worth it if you have the money. You need to send them an e-mail & tell them you want to buy one to get one because they don't have them listed as for sale... maybe it's a courtesy thing... The quantities are extremely limited BTW.
Oh, sorry about the very small font but it won't adjust to a larger size!
Hi, sure I'm happy to help if I can. I bought a Black Sessions CD, though it was not Pulp. I'm fairly certain it's not a bootleg.. The cover is a silvery cardboard sleeve that says on the top left: Black Sessions, top right: Édition Limité # 01977 & the numerals are embossed, the band name is on the bottom. The back says (top to bottom) Les Archives Des Black Sessions on top, then the band name, session # & date , track listing then across the bottom: Sangatte sang 233 cd made in EU MMIX c'est lenoir france inter. (maybe this can help you determine whether it is genuine or not). The disc itself white with black print with the session #, the France Inter logo & Sangatte printed & also ( in French) Promotional Limited Edition. I contacted someone at: elana@gonmail.com (you will find this at the bottom of the web page...I think her name was Emily) who set me up to buy it, though they don't advertise that they sell them. The website URL is http://www.freewebs.com/blacksessions/ You will find a list of all the Black Sessions recordings listed there including the 3 by Pulp. I don't know if they have any of the Pulp Black Sessions left or not but I do wish you luck in getting one. Be prepared to spend about $40 on each one.
