Im working in London for all of July and have tickets to the Divine Comedy show at the same venue a week earlier. If I dont get tickets for this Ill be one of those saddos with a cardboard sign outside offering my virtue in exchange for a ticket.

DC and Pulp at the Southbank a week apart is.. a dream.

Just remembered I'm going to a wedding in Northumberland that weekend. I will have to console myself with seeing them in Cologne a fortnight before.

 Hardcore!

They should do something like this for PulpPeople or the 2026 equivalent. Like the BBC show, it'll be half full of slebs and people who are not fans.

And there was me wondering what to get Mrs. ArrGee for our wedding anniversary wink

Will see if I can get a couple of tickets, though might have to go over my £100 limit of gigs for this one.

Yes, I have a half decent pair in front stalls for Divine Comedy, so fingers crossed for this.  Have to admit RFH is ticking  a lot of boxes for gigs after the suede takeover last year.

It is effectively sold out with just 3 or 4 single tickets available.  My experience of RFH and Barbican is it is always worth having a look in the days before a performance as better seats will appear (returns from members) and you can end up with far superior seats than the pre-sale.  May not work for pulp, but certainly worked for suede.

That will be £81 for a seat at the back of the rear stalls.  Could be about £150 in front stalls.

We're thinking the membership isn't such bad value IF it bags you the ticket.

£60 for 2 tickets is £30 extra per ticket (you don't need to be Carol Vorderman for that calculation, I know). It also gets discounts on drinks in the venue, so may save £5 each there on the day.

I'm just wondering how many others will also do the same thing, and how many tickets will be made available for SBS members.

Can you get two tickets per membership?

I would not be overly concerned with the discount on drinks as you can bring your own.

It is two tickets per membership.

We managed to get some rear stalls row EE, but I think front stalls were the same price and I messed up in the checkout, pretty sure I could've got some .

If anyone has a pricing map please drop it in!

At this rate honestly i'm not even bothered and sad i'm not going. I gave up Oasis Wembley tickets at the last step (500 pounds for 3 !) and this is a new low too.

Records are fine for me from now on and hopefully in the future some cheaper tickets.

I disagree with the comments on gig prices, and these ones for Pulp are comparatively cheap; £130 is the starting price for many artists (Stevie Nicks I think I paid that) these days in bigger venues with comparatively worse seats than most will get at this Pulp gig.

Back in the 90s everyone used to spend £12 on albums, with inflation they would be at least double that now. These days we can consume as much we like for £12 on Spotify. Streaming is far too cheap, and the gig prices simply reflect that; if anything you might even argue they are too cheap in some cases.

To add to that Pulp are playing - I believe - with a full orchestra.

All you describe is the root of all problems : high prices have slowly become acceptable. The new generation does not know there was a time when gigs were affordable, the old one has given up and is willing to pay even thousands for a gig.

You dont own things with streaming. I'm a massive streamer but i also buy everything on CD. One day Apple music or Spotify will go bankrupt, and gone is people's whole discography. Everyone pays 150 a year for music they don't own. How much of that could be forwarded to CD, or vinyls market ? A lot if it was coupled with streaming options.

To me prices for streaming should be higher and include few physical CD/year (5 or 10 ?) at a competitive price, with higher revenues for artists. Everyone wins and the big acts could lower the prices. Do they want to ? I doubt it. So in a way, we are all guilty of that system. me included.

Its not even about this Pulp gig, since Pulp have still reasonable prices especially if there is an orchestra. It's just that its globally accepted now that gigs are expensive for whatever reasons. When there were/still is other ways.

Agree, those prices only favor the casuals, because they are willing to pay anything and sometimes ridiculous amounts to go.

Bands could also sell tickets with options of a physical sale with it, at a smaller prices. There are solutions and ideas, but record label are more than happy in this situation. They negotiated terrible deals for artists with the streaming platforms.

I remember people complaining about the prices for Theatre Royal Drury Lane In 1994.  £8.50.

complaining is human nature, but honestly 8 in 94 is not 150 in 2026. There's a gap.

Yeah, it's insane how it was slowly but surely accepted those prices. If people stop going, they would be cut them in half guaranteed, and they would still make millions.

I choose to go only to gigs with reasonable prices now, and it that means not seeing my fav bands ever again, then so be it. I just cant enjoy a 1h30 music session at 200 unless there is something special (like the orchestra, and even then 200 wouldn't really be justified). It's just completely silly.

As in every crisis, greed found a way to get richer.

I have refused to pay more than £100, but whenever a gig is more than £50, I think twice and have decided to not go to a number of gigs because of that.  I might pay £140 for Royal Festival Hall if I can get a couple of good seats, but that is nearly £300 for a night out before drinks and meals.
My next gig is £3 at 100 Club.  And it will probably be a pretty good night out for the price of a bag of chips.

Wythenshawe Park is around £77; so if we use an inflation calculator it's actually cheaper than it was in 1994. And that's before you even consider that you are watching a band with four more albums and decades more of experience.

The South Bank gig is an even worse comparison to the 1994 price of £8 as it sounds like they have a full string orchestra or whatever.

Some gig prices are getting silly, but I don't think Pulp's are when you consider how established they are, and their back catalogue. I think they are very reasonable. I wanted to see Oasis but couldn't justify the prices so gave them a miss.

77 is still kinda acceptable, only just. It depends on the venue. If that's a festival, then prices complaint dont apply i suppose since there are many bands.

But 150 for a stadium ticket where you dont see anything, that's the line for me. I'd rather have a smaller event than 3 opening acts i dont want to see and then the band i want to see.

It sounds like we're aligned Andy.

£150 for a stadium gig is far too much. But it's reasonable for Pulp's South Bank concert.

I thought the tickets would be around £100 (due to venue size and its an event gig) but assume the production costs have pushed it up to £140. Second most expensive ticket Ive ever bought after Bruce Springsteen. Hopefully there will be some more, cheaper London gigs before this tour ends (still hoping for a Brixton residency).

Well, I guess that's it then. I never got a link. My chance of getting one went from a small percentage to zero, because of (I guess) a glitch. That really, really, really stings. I've gone to pretty significant lengths to make sure I'd be free and ready this morning, just for a shot at it. And yes, I checked my spam folder.

Actually managed to get some. My partner was 1185 in the queue. I was number 3. Although it took me to the login page, then after I logged in just took me to my account with no way of getting to the Pulp presale- eventually got back by clicking the link in the email, but I reckon some people will have missed out because of that.

Rear stalls which is fine and £45 cheaper than front stalls, but Im disabled and a Southbank access member and there are no access tickets available for this (apart from a few wheelchair spaces) which takes the piss. But hey, at least Im going!!

A comment made by the Pulp team on the Facebook page says that they've been assured by the South Bank Centre that there will be no dynamic pricing on these tickets. For those that actually got the email, great news, I guess.

Seems excessive compared to Divine Comedy (£60) and suede (£75). Pulp are the only band I would consider paying over £100 for but I can't see myself getting a ticket in 20 minutes time.

The queue allocation is random, isn't it?

I logged on with my phone before 10am and I'm still in the 2000s. Then I clicked the link on my work computer and I was far closer (373 now at 10:23).

It was easier in 1990s. Get a letter from Pulp People, write a cheque for £38 with SAE. A week later, four great stalls tickets at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Bloody internet.

Thanks Eamonn, I really appreciate it. I'm 3833 in the queue right now. But it's better than literally no chance at all.

I guess the much advertised "Mailchimp" thing they use is just a useless piece of arse. It's like that "Shopify" thing that is constantly advertised to me, sometimes multiple times a day, for years now. Whenever I come across an online store that uses it, I usually just don't bother. It's a complete glitchy mess that barely manages to comprehend the idea of someone not living in the US, and forces you to enter your email address and go through multiple steps in order even to see EU shipping rates. Then harasses you via email for "abandoning" your cart afterwards.

And yes, that's a dig at pulpofficial.co.uk using it.

I think I'll allow myself a couple of hours of sulking today!

Got in but there were only two left in rear stalls. Clicked on one and it was gone. Looks like just one wheelchair seat at the side left.

Wonder how many have been held back for general sale.

The "More tickets will go on sale this afternoon" message has vanished, just plain sold out now. Terrific.

Congrats to those of you who are going. Someone record the whole show please!

It is too expensive, but for decent seats probably worth it.

Tickets are still appearing if you are logged in. Keep refreshing. I suspect that will all the issues creating accounts that tickets are timing out on people.

Which page are you refreshing from - the event page that's been there all the time, the queue page or the page telling you it was sold-out after you gained access from the queue?

I thought the tickets would be around £100 (due to venue size and its an event gig) but assume the production costs have pushed it up to £140. Second most expensive ticket Ive ever bought after Bruce Springsteen. Hopefully there will be some more, cheaper London gigs before this tour ends (still hoping for a Brixton residency).

Ive heard theyre using 4-ply toilet paper at this gig.

Well done. If you want a better seat keep checking the Southbank web site.  We went to first night for suede and were in balcony, but whilst i was at the show I checked tickets for following night and there were two good ones together in the stalls, so I went again.  Very easy to return tickets and they give you a full credit (though they keep booking fee).

Most I have ever paid for a gig.  Only times I paid more for an individual ticket was Wimbledons Mens final (£175), Ireland v Scotland in Rugby World Cup (216 Euro) and Ireland v England at Twickenham (£149) a couple of months ago.  All one offs.  I think highest price for a gig is The Who at The O2 (£90) and only paid that because I got a production seat in the front block a day before the gig was scheduled (it was postponed as Roger Daltrey was ill).  I can somewhat rationalise it in that I have no travel nor accommodation, so the only extra cost is a meal and a few drinks. Some excessive discretionary spending has to be done. smile
I was planning a trip to Mexico for World Cup which now wont be taking place (well not for me, now Ireland havent qualified), so arguably that has "saved" me about £10,000.  Similarly its unlikely I will be in Hungary for European Cup final.

PS - I spent less flying to Dublin, staying in a hotel besides Trinity college and watching a Bowie almuni band in Whelans than I will going to see pulp.  However, the next Bowie alumni gig is eye-wateringly expensive. £2500/person.  Wont be going no https://www.cameronhouse.co.uk/offers/bowie-live-on-the-loch/

The general sale was a lot quicker to get through, if you gave up those morning, try now!

I got a stalls one, bloody expensive £146 so if anyone is happy with a back-row balcony one for roughly half the price, I'll be happy to sell.

Highly likely. Not got a ticket, but there seems to be plenty available. Will ask some friends if they are interested.

Got a discounted resale ticket, so I will be going. Friends (if any go) can sort themselves out.

Do you mean to sell you a cheaper one and buy yours? I got a back-of-the-stalls ticket which is cheaper, but I'd like further forward.. where is your ticket?

Sorry, I meant that I had bought a back balcony one initially but then in the main sale managed to get a front stalls one so was happy to sell the balcony one which I now have.

I don't think the front stalls are worth £55 more - the sound is really good at the RFH from all sections and at least you'll get a full view of the stage from up there.

Ah fair enough. Yeah I guess, still disappointed though. I was exactly five rows further forward for Stereolab and could barely see them!

The front stalls are probably worth a bit more as you can run down the front biggrin.  That's what happened at suede.  I was happy enough where I was in the 10th row, especially as the youngsters sat next to me rushed off and gave me somewhere to put my jacket.

Do you have any advice on how to sell or transfer the tickets? E-tickets will only be issued 24 hours before the event.

After a lot of refreshing on the sold-out website, my friend and I managed to grab some tickets (I believe they were released from cancelled or expired baskets) - but we ended up with two spare ones and now need to get rid of them.

If anyone is interested, please let me know - one is for the rear stalls (row HH, side), the other for the front stalls (row N, central), face value £140 each - which is bizzare, but they were both price category A.

Well done on persevering! I sold mine to a friend. I'm sure you will get takers on here. If not, you could use Twickets. Will definitely sell and it's fine to provide the ticket shortly before the event.

Oh yes, but we´re not from the UK and we´re coming to London just for this (and Kes screening next day), so we´d prefer to have the money back.

Also, I´ve just seen that Twickets only allows listings once tickets are issued - do you know if there is any way around that, or do people usually wait until they have them? There would only be 24 hours left before the show.

You can list on twickets and deliver when you receive the tickets.  I have done that countless times.  Twickets may ask for proof of purchase, but you will have that.

Has anyone tried selling or buying Southbank Centre tickets on Twickets? Did it work? I just found this on the Southbank Centre website and it´s a bit concerning...

Can I resell my ticket via a resale site?

The Southbank Centre takes a strong view on secondary ticketing. We may require the lead booker to attend (photo ID may be requested). Tickets can only be sold by the Southbank Centre, or one of our agent partners.

We try to identify touted tickets and we contact third person resale sites and ask them to remove the tickets, as resale is against our terms and conditions.

Most venues make different allowances for Twickets, as they can only ever be sold at face value (or less) - i.e. its legitimate fan-to-fan reselling, not profiteering by touts

Yes, I sold my suede tickets on different nights last year on Twickets.  No problem.
