Looking at the live wiki, I was reminded of the August, Spanish Holsten Pils corporate gig. 500 media folk, and 500 prize-winners. Pulp and Leftfield. Russell's last Pulp concert for 15 years. I've googled and dug and found this lot from the night. There's more than this that you can find by searching on Getty. Unbelievably, one of the people they flew out there was the cop that arrested Jarvis at the Brits. There's a photo of him at the concert, and you can see Russell over his shoulder.
Anyway, what the *hell* is going on with this lineup? Two drummers? About eight guitarists?!
PC Steve Bharattia, the policeman who arrested Jarvis ****er at the Brit Awards in February. Charges were later dropped. Steve, who had been flown to Spain by the party's organisers, said "Believe it or not, I'm huge fan of Jarvis's music". Teatre Grec, Barcelona, Spain. 24th August 1996 Pulp in concert in Barcelona, Spain. Could Pablo Cook be one of the percussionists? From da PWiki, it seems he left after the Arena tour that spring but maybe he returned for the wizz and free lager...

Danny Goffey, Supergrass drummer, has said he played Common People on guitar on-stage with Pulp as one of those extras but i can't remember which gig (and neither can he, given a certain penchant for mayhem).
Is one of these the last photo of Russell as a member of Pulp?
More likely this from Dec 96:
The pics must be from Common People, I think at the festival dates that year they did something similar with zillions of extra guitarists.
I went looking because I was interested to see if one would obviously be the last photo of Russell with Pulp. And then found a can of worms of extra folk!
Yes, I assume the one of Nick and Russell would be The Last. And takes places after the 'abortive album session' where Northern Souls was brought out.
Potentially, as Sturdy says, all of those more manic Barcelona photos are of Common People. Russell is violining in all the shots. It would make sense for any press to be taking photos of the biggest song, the biggest party atmosphere etc.
I wonder how many promo and private parties Pulp played down the years. Off the top, I can think of Oxford Uni ('93), Central St Martins ('12) PlayStation ('98) and Holsten ('96).
What about undocumented, secret ones....for rich folk in their back gardens? That architect from Lyndhurst Grove etc.
Should have been specific! I think we all meant 'first time around'.
I didn't think Russell played any of the 2012 gigs at all, although he was offered them - even the final Sheffield Arena date that December. Happy to be corrected though!
