I'm only a few miles away from the venue, and I dare say there are 20+ people already in the queue, but having had a s**t night's sleep and looked at the forecast I'm not sure I can be arsed with the muggy heat/rain/thunderstorms.

I'm coming subject to my mum not being released from hospital this afternoon in York. Currently in hipster cafe being a Grown Up sorting out real life so I can forget about it tonight. Trying anyway.

I'll be here, but probably won't make it in til about 6pm.

Btw there's a Facebook event listing a Pulp gig at co-op for Monday. It went live 12 hours ago, but no ticket links yet...

I'm going, though my days of trying to get to the barrier ended some time in the late 90s (got uncomfortably crushed at a gig as a teen)... fair play to those braving this heat!

Really hoping for a diamond to go up against Like A Friend (and winning). I splashed out on resale tickets (going to Tramlines so initially couldn't justify it) partly due to them playing OU which I've never heard live. That and the extended set.

I will be doing what I can to aid that occurring.

Well I arrived not long before 4pm - would have been earlier but Metrolink decided not to run trams to my stop, so had to jump in a taxi! - and I'm 87th in the queue (waved to Ester & co at the front!). Had a nice chinwag with a guy from Swansea who is here with his daughter, that has helped pass the time.

On an On This Day tip.... 39 years today since they started recording Freaks. Album in full for the first set?

I'm on the Leeds train to Victoria now. Doubt I'll catch any of you nutters who've probably already glued yourselves to the barriers but I'll keep an eye out!

In an extraordinary turn of events, I managed to make the barrier in front of Candida and Nick again. God love everyone crowding around Jarvis in the centre. So happy!

Have a great night everyone. I'm in the standing area in a tinfoil skirt. Real mix of ages too which is great.

Tinfoil....is that a nod to the Pulp mise-en-scène at the Hallamshire circa '84 to '86?

Well from all the Pulp shows I've been to, this is the best I've seen them perform yet. Was a fantastic crowd except for the usual bell ends throwing beer, but aside from that - oh and marks guitar breaking down during Common People, it was a flawless show.

We Are The Boyz Vs Pink Glove in the vote off.....Pink Glove pissed it.

Gig: great

Leaving during Common People to get a taxi that didn't show, meaning I missed my last train home and am now in an incredibly expensive Ibis: less great.

We were told off on Emma's behalf as she gets to play the sax on We Are the Boyz. Seemed completely silent where I was in the vote, then erupted for Pink Glove. I wonder how many people even know it.

Apart from anything specific about the individual songs and performances,  they are all exuding an overwhelming sense of having the time of their lives and the joy just keeps growing like a runaway train. I think the Elysians in particular can't really believe what's happening to them. Laura that we sang happy birthday to looked overwhelmed. I was right at the front at the edge by Mark and he looks so in his element now, striding off into the middle and really bossing it. Candida can't seem to stop griining. And the whole crowd are singing along all the way through songs that have only been in the wild for a fortnight.

I was particular impressed with the reactions to Spike Island, and Got To Have Love. The crowd were really up for it tonight. When Sorted finished, and Mark went straight into the chord for Disco 2000 - that literally blew the roof off. I havent heard a reaction to a song like that in a long while. The band really seemed to enjoy the night, and as it has been mentioned, the Elysian's seem overwhelmed to be part of such a significant project and are having the times of their lives. I think its scandalous that Background Noise isnt in the set - but cant have them all eh. OU - Mark kept closing his eyes and taking in the music and atmosphere - ive never seen him react like that before. Its showing a new true love for his band he plays in.

Sturdy - you would have been just as cheap getting an uber back home mate, rather than paying the shocking hotel prices. It cost me £50 to get from the arena to nearly Preston.
Im now going to sit here and watch youtube for hours and try and come back down to earth.

I have noticed that Manchester hotel prices have rocketed in recent years, even during the week. I tend to stay in Salford nowadays, you can usually get a Travelodge or Premier Inn for less than £75 on a weekend or £50 during the week.

It was brilliant, and thought the new songs were really well received, loads of people around me singing along to the More stuff. I must admit I didn't really enjoy the whole interval thing but it meant additional Pulp so it was worth it.

Interesting to see how Tramlines will go down, what stays and what goes.

Sorry to hear of your taxi/hotel woes, Sturdy - had I been aware I would have happily offered you a couch for the night, some big city hotels really do take the piss with their greed. It was the main reason I missed out on Glasgow & Dublin, just couldn't justify £150+ plus each time for a few hours kip. I was lucky to get a Travelodge for a night in Brum for just £45, and that included early check-in.

Totally agree with everyone about the big reaction to the new songs, it was very encouraging and you could tell the band were really pleased, smiling throughout. Disco 2000 probably had the biggest reaction of the night, I could barely hear myself. Poor Mark during Common People, you could sense his frustration but thankfully the tech ran on and got him up and running again. Having never heard We Are The Boyz live I should have shouted for that, but the lure of Pink Glove was just too strong. Not a bad rendition, though it did feel a little underpowered, I think I'm just really used to that 2011 version which was definitive.

A highlight of the night was randomly meeting a girl called Melissa in the indoor queue, she'd come up from Stoke on her own, it was her very first Pulp gig and she had no idea of the setlist. She was really good company during the long wait and it was so lovely seeing her joyous reactions to each song, especially when Jarvis came down for a wander in front of us. It's great to think the band are still attracting first timers all these years later. I mentioned Bar Italia to her at the end, so hopefully she may come and take a peek at some point.

Thought last night was a hometown gig, I think Brum edged it for me. As Candida said on the radio yesterday, it was just incredible.
