Have a phenomenal time everyone who's going. Pulp have announced that it's going to be a bumper set again, with Lisa O'Neill on at 7 and Pulp taking to the stage at 8.
Phew! Can't feckin' wait, I've managed somehow to avoid all the Glasgow hyper-reviews and setlist revelations - not just on here - the algo taunts and haunts in equal measure... there's been a lot of eye-averting in the nick of time. Just gotta hold out for another day...
I hope JC calls-out that Irish Times journalist who's given ****ty reviews for More and live in St Anne's Park 2023 cos no doubt the grumpy sod will be on scribbling-duties again.
Can someone @ him on Social Media and make him squirm? I was gonna march over to The Irish Times office tomorrow afternoon and "offer him out" (y'know, like Darren Spooner Jr with his Dad) but my flight gets in too late...
Thanks, lipglossed. Here, here, Eamonn! You and I marching over there, we'd be a really menacing duo I think Nick called out his review of the St Anne's Park gig on Twitter. See Candida mentioning the St Anne's Park gig in her interview and how good it was because everybody knows it was. He really seems to have a particular issue with Pulp. Isn't it great to have the Internet nowadays and you needn't pay heed to these critics and see other people loved it also. Who is he anyway? Let's hear his albums, see his shows. Miserable you know what.
Jarvis seems to feel the cold looking at previous instagram pics like when they were doing Isle of Wight 2 years ago. He'll be freezing here. Was out for a walk earlier and it's nippy! 7pm for Lisa O Neill. It's an early start! Thank god it's the bumper set for Dublin too. Cannot wait. Unlike Eamonn I've been soaking up every spoiler!
You did! Too knackered for one of my overly-long posts but it was an absolute dazzler.
So glad I refrained from spoilers as when then surprises arrived they were gleefully received. Thank you Nick and Mark for getting the Jarvis to be more Hardcore.
But actually, more than the song choices - having the core members start the second half in front of the curtains was the highlight and genuinely emotional. Those four funny Northerners have such a uniquely shared history.
And how warm of Pulp to finish on A Sunset, by inviting the rest of the extended family out in front for the final number.
It was lovely to finally meet the (only?) other Irish Bar Italian, Jean - and her mam - and briefly Ester and Giles afterwards - I knew they'd be at the barrier! Sorry Sabrina (?), only realised I recognised you afterwards!
My feet are phucked but they'll be fine by Friday so bring on London.

That's a much tougher choice than Seconds. How was the split?
To be honest, I was 10-15 rows back standing and I felt no one had heard of Lyndhurst. Dishes, was a clear winner.
Another thing that happened, Jarvis referred to Pulps first time in Dublin back in 1993. I was hoping for a funny anecdote about one of their weirder TV appearances (JMTV and that fashion parade) but he relayed a tale from Pulpwiki, that I only found elsewhere on the Internet a year or so ago and copied it across so that was quite amusing.
Unlike Eamonn, I'd looked at every single spoiler available! I knew what to expect but it was still amazing. Great atmosphere. Great crowd around us singing nearly everything and giving it socks. I got maybe closer than ever but I can never get a decent pic. I don't take many. There's loads of great ones online anyway!
Was over to the left at Mark's side and when some people left after CP we got even closer. Candida is gas coming out with her prosecco
Really moving having them do SC as a 4 piece. Brilliant intro from Jarvis! I don't know what to say besides they were absolutely fantastic. The production is second to none. They put on a show visually and aurally. They just keep getting better.
I would have loved to have heard Hymn of the North and, of course, 59 Lyndhurst Grove but happy with Dishes also. This is Hardcore is spectacular with the string section. I just have no words other than it was amazing. If they were doing a second night I'd be right there again!
Lovely to meet you, Eamonn. I don't know about you but I am absolutely knackered today! So dehydrated because it was so hot in there!
And miracles of miracles there seems to be a good review in The Irish Times cos the usual grumpy boots wasn't writing it. It's behind a pay wall though!
Ooh, you're right! They got someone else to cover it, praise be. I passed the Irish Times building this morning and was considering lobbing an egg at the sign but I refrained.
Thanks Laura, for righting the wrongs of your colleague. Here it is unpaywalled:
That's more like it that review. Am I going mad or did someone else have a review up here that mentioned some of the funny bits when things go wrong? The curtain opened too early and the audience let out a scream and then it closed but there wasn't a full stage presence there yet. The elysian collective were there and one of those inflatable things from The Fear came up during Disco 2000 which I did kinda think, 'hmm don't think that fits this song' funny!
That's a good point re is it loser stays on! Well, I hope ye pick 59 Lyndhurst Grove for Candida
We know they've also soundchecked Party Hard so maybe that'll be an option at some point too.
59 Lyndhurst Grove or We Are the Boyz - That's a tough one bit I think I'd say We Are the Boyz!
I
You had to cheer/clap/make noise basically as loud as you could for your choice! Got the sense too that perhaps not too many knew 59 Lyndhurst Grove. Interesting to see what the choice is in London because I had been thinking it'd be the same as it was in Glasgow.
In London they'll do a lucky spin with a wheel of Pulp songs and a Bar Italian will be requested from the crowd to come up and give it a whirl. It's probably rigged to whatever Jarvis feels like singing but do try and make it land on Silence if possible k tnx.
