So, who's coming to Clydeside? (I am)

Not sure about pubs for afters near the venue, plus they'll all be quite crowded on a Saturday, but if people fancy a natter I'd recommend we get a (frequent) metro train from Exhibition Centre back into town. 'Box' is a good place, will be open late and has a proper music theme (plus free Tunnocks' teacakes at the bar!) - it's walkable from the Hydro, though it takes 20 minutes, but either Glasgow Central or Queen Street puts you in reach of nearly everywhere.

Deeply excited for this. I hope they play Lipgloss and Party Hard and Tina and Grown Ups and everything else.

Kinda wish I'd chosen this instead of Dublin as you're likely to get more Pulp (no support it seems, while there is in Dublin) plus Scottish and Irish crowds are the best, let's be honest.

Enjoy, though! I remember the first time I met you after Bridlington, you were still in open-mouthed shock at seeing Pulp for the first time.

Sounds lovely! I will be queuing all day, but I might take permission to have a break from the queue to go check in and have a look

Seconds
(Voted for by the crowd over "Dishes")

Is this going to be a regular thing? If so I'm going for Seconds too.

Cannot believe that we got all of those songs. Also, they started with three new ones and the crowd LOVED it.

Slow Jam, Grown Ups, and Tina were the three I really wanted, and we got them!

Seconds, Acrylic Afternoons, The Fear, OU, HELP THE AGED... That's more like it!

Such an excitable, happy gig that when Mis-Shapes slotted seamlessly into the second set it really felt like it was capturing a moment once again. Everyone seemed to be in high spirits, with Mark and Jarvis improvising choreography for his solo. It was riotous.

Also, you may have noticed that there was a new line added to the start of the spoken word bit in Got to Have Love: "Don't drum on the barricades." It certainly sounded like that's what he said, and that may have been because of me. Sorry, Jarvis. Thank you for booping my finger during Acrylic Afternoons though. I'm literally never washing it again.

Something Changed performed acoustically, by just the Fab Four, was wonderful. Was definitely holding back tears.

THE FEAR!!!! At long last!

Also I am pleased to see that "Party Hard" was soundchecked. Great to see that "OU" was played too. I'd have chose "Dishes" over "Seconds" but that's because of the string section.

At the start, during Spike Island, the four Different Class cutouts rise up on a trapdoor - except one of them isn't a cutout. Can you guess which one?

Pulp, OVO Hydro, Glasgow, review: Jarvis and co are in their pomp as their UK tour begins

www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/d806b188c08f7225

What. A. Show. The opening night of Pulps tour in Glasgow was a two-part extravaganza that dazzled, moved and delighted. Ive seen the band perform four times since 2011 the last, a month ago and I was shocked at how good this concert was: perfectly paced, meticulously crafted, musically rich and lavishly produced, with six box-fresh new songs that fitted seamlessly among the decades-old favourites. If you think youve seen Pulp in their pomp, think again. Beg, borrow or steal a ticket to this tour.

"The years fell away for Common People, with all ages students and oldies alike belting it out, arms aloft. This was Pulp in glorious HD. I was born to perform, ****er sang on Spike Island. Youre telling me. A joy from start to finish."

The production values are absolutely outstanding. I also think this might be my favourite ever El Jarv stage entrance.

Brilliant set plenty of new songs, crowd pleasers & suprises. The band sound amazing.

I'm not sure if a Pulp concert has ever been as good as it was last night.

Not good to see this woman was kicked out for bringing a Palestine flag along with her.

Given Jarvis and Pulp have both signed things, you'd hope this is down to the venue rather than the band's policy.

What's with people sitting down between sets in the standing area? Not good.

Could be tiredness? God knows my back is usually in bits after queueing for hours and I'm not even 40 yet

Ill agree its a little awkward but its not doing anyone any harm. Between queueing early and it being a relatively long show Im not surprised some folks needed a wee sit down.

I too am in the not-quite-40-club and was having to pop a couple ibuprofen to deal with the back cramps before Pulp even started. biggrin

i now aim for seated gigs too i'm 44 ahah :D

But i was never good at standing up not moving for hours, even at 20. this is so weird, either i stand and walk for hours or i sit.  biggrin I can walk for hours, no problem, but standing there for hours is hard for me.

I'm well past 40, and have been to 2 standing concerts this year, with each main act doing a 2 hour set. Back is fine, but legs hurt, quite a lot. Agree with above, it's the standing still that does it - our bodies aren't made for that. During a very brief intermission I sat on the floor, which was a blessed relief, but the gigs were small, and I was safe and not in anybodys way.

That being said, I'd still rather have these wonderful long sets (like Pulp are doing, regretting not booking), and still rather stand than sit. I can be moved emotionally at a seated classical concert, but with pop, just don't engage the same at seated venues.

It does do harm, especially when they are passing out water and none of it gets passed in the direction of where people who are sat down. It took forever to get water and we only did when the selfish people decided to stand up, possibly they had a moment of clarity.  Also it's dangerous. If you want to sit down, get a seat, don't do so in a standing arena of thousands of people packed tightly together. I noticed people who'd push forwards would be drawn to the area because from a distance they thought there was some empty space.  So, it completely sucks.

Catching up here instead of applying for jobs...Glasgow blew me away! Teary with the cutouts entrance as it hits you for the millionth time that Steve's no longer with us (I know he wasn't going to be in it anyway but still)
Then I normally think stripped down stuff is cheesy, like I can't listen to any 'unplugged' stuff without gagging but oh my GOD Something Changed in the interval, teary again. My pal laughing at me.

I popped into the 78 before, it was too busy so found another pub for a quick pint. It was my first trip to Glasgow since 1995. (i am OLD)
When I got there on Friday I nipped into Stereo for a ****tail while waiting for my pal. There was a wee blackboard saying 'Candida 730' so of course we went back for 730 for anotehr drink just in case. Not our candida. Not that I saw anyway

Best part of the weekend.. and also most mortifying... speaking to Jarvis/Mark/Nick at the airport. I saw them in the queue for their Dublin flight and had to go over. I wittered about how amazing it had been and thank you for the album etc. They were very gracious. I said don't worry I'm not on your flight, they laughed at that. I said I was doing both london but I wasn't a stalker. Mark gave me a badge and I said that he'd given me one at a book thing. I added again I wasn't a stalker. They were still smiley and not frightened and very polite to me. I left them to it at that. Didn't ask for a photo, as they're not techinally working

A couple of Elysium collective were giving me the side eye haha

That's a memory you'll have forever, weener. Glad it was all grand and they didn't mind. You'll always remember that. I couldn't. I'd freeze to the ground. I'd be the one giving them side eye, trying to have a gawk but pretending not to!
