I was lucky enough to be in the audience for Jonathan Ross last night. Im not sure how much Im allowed to say publicly (?) before it airs on Saturday night. I will mention though that Jarvis talked about Spike Island and how Jason wrote the music for it! He was behind the spike island, come alive phrase in the chorus as well. I had an incredible evening last night, cant quite believe it all happened tbh!
this week feels longer than the last 24 years. Just release the release !
anyone got a link for Slow Jam ? Dont think i have that one.

you can find it on youtube, Jarv is, not Pulp
ah thanx, all i had was "Slow Pulp" result on YT, whatever that band is . Could be interesting i gotta say. Not a straightforward song but the kind of intimist song Jarvis is used to write. Bit like Swanky Mode meet Am i missing something. But yeah, a bit odd since it sounds more like Jarv Is. Or was it Jarv Is that sounded like Pulp ?

Ooh, listen to that throbbing bass from Spike Island on the clip in Jarv's Instagram post. And footage from the DC sleeve shoot! Just can't shake-off the Different Class anniversary talk!
the best thing is about Pulp the songs will sound unique and just as different but good in their own way compared to the live versions. I'll enjoy listening to both the live recordings in their premature form, and then in their polished studio versions

I wouldn't worry about saying stuff publically, there are always journalists in the audience selling snippets to media for the next day anyway
Thanks for the updates re the JR appearance. I'm liking the artwork. It's emotional now seeing just the 4 where there was 6 but lucky are we to still have those 4 and that they've chosen to make new music for the world again. Lots of love as always for them. Very excited to hear this.
I'll sort that out later this evening if no one else has - yes, I'm the guy that's been writing virtually all the news updates / creating new gig pages for the past two years.
Can we hope for a bonus rework of After You ? after all, they did play it a lot during the gigs. It flows well after Spike Island in its 2013 form though. Its even mixed at the same level, ommpfff

6 vinyl variants and counting. Jarvis must have enjoyed doing that for Jarv Is!
Descriptions from Bandcamp:
Single black LP
Double black LP cut at 45 rpm, exclusive to Pulp's online shop and Rough Trade Records' webstore
"Theresa" green LP available across all retail
"Blue Sky Thinking" Marble LP, exclusive to independent record stores
"South Yorkshire Sunset" Marble LP available only from shops in Sheffield
"Isha Kriya", an ink spot design, available exclusively from Pulp and Rough Trade Records online shops
I'm pleased to see More has appeared in the Pulp Bandcamp, previously used for the Fire EP reissues... they must have gotten control of that account.
New biog pics, too. Bandcamp has a shot of the whole collective... and I notice other sites like Qobuz have a four shot: https://www.qobuz.com/gb-en/interpreter/pulp/51294

Some confusion at the very end, suggesting Pulp are unable to do Glastonbury this year because they're booked to play the Hollywood Bowl (three months later).
Yes.... I feel like the Glastonbury denial could have been far more emphatic. There were a lot of awkward pauses there, and I think there was a definite smile in Jarvis' voice when he said "no plans..."
This may or may not be me trying to convince myself it'll be worth having a go at the resale!

Words From Jarvis update: Hammersmith Odeon has been corrected to Sheffield Arena on the official site... I expect they've been inundated with indignant messages.
Is it a pun on "Trees Are Green"? My aunt Theresa used the same play upon words in the early 90s to name her gardening shop!
It's a quote from a bootleg of a concert somewhere...one of the outside dates from 2001/2 I think? "Have you met my friend Theresa?" asks Jarvis. "Theresa Green" [Trees are green].
Awful. Barely registers as a joke. But it's what's said. Is it well known enough that it's referenced here? Or does he still think it's funny? :)
Partial Eclipse appeared on ASCAP, no trace of the others tracks except A sunset and HOTN. what are these other unknown songs ? Pulp or Jarv Is?

Performance of a Lifetime is a Pulp song demo'd in 2000.
Roundhead & Cavaliers is a lyric from Theme from Likely Stories EP he did for a Neil Gaiman TV adaptation in 2016 so maybe it's that track.
No idea about the rest. They may have never been fully recorded. I'm all in for Rats With Wings In 1971 though.
What an extraordinary day. After a phoneless day working outdoors, in blissfully fine spring weather, popped onto the internet for a 'quick' check of email before bed, and here I am 6 hours later. A new Pulp single. A new Pulp album. Lauren Laverne. A controversial AI video, which I enjoyed, and think was a clever and interesting choice. Haven't been here for awhile - foolish of course - so all unexpected, and delightful.

God, anyone gonna go in for the two full bundles of merch with the album in all formats and the clothes and trinkets?!
When the (previous) last lot of reunion gigs were announced, and Steve had passed, I thought the time for new Pulp material was gone, and that I wouldn't want any more...
And then I hear there's a new album, and I go crackers and buy, what was it? 8 versions? It makes no sense. Why do I need this stuff? Downloads don't work for me, physical copies are the way I hear albums - so 1 CD is perfect. But no, I buy a whole bunch of things AGAIN that have no use, and I have to do a bunch of work to earn back.
Did manage to resist the 2 ganzeys (don't like them), the cap (will never in my life wear a baseball cap. why would Pulp fans wear baseball caps?), and the manky looking bag. Everything else will be on the way to me in June.
I had a Pulp baseball cap in the '90s but I was only a young one! I was looking at all the stuff but I want the CD in my hand there and then so I think I'll wait and just buy it on June 6th in a bricks and mortar shop. The tape is pulling on my heart strings because it was a cassette of Different Class that started this whole journey off and it was years before I got a CD copy of it. TiH was also a cassette. CDs were so dear at the time so I almost always went for cassette. I like some of the t-shirts but I think I'll wait till Dublin. I think the best piece of merchandise they ever had was the tea caddy! It's in use every day when I've to go into the office or on day trips to the beach and I want me tea

Well Year of the Dog is Relaxed Muscle of course.
Honeyland, Death Eaters, Slow Death are on the BPI database as Jason Buckle / Jarvis Cocker compositions so could be as well?
Eurostar, La Ceremonie, Lou, Only Thing are on as Jarvis solo compositions.
I Found Your Cat, Morning Commute, Next Station, Tomis Cummutes, What Do I Do Now are Jarvis Cocker / Sarah Anderson compositions - does that ring any bells with anyone?
(The) Died is on as a Cocker/Banks/Webber/Doyle/Mackey composition.
I suspect most if not all of these will be working titles for better known tunes - the Sarah Anderson stuff is a bit of a mystery to me though.

Ah - Sarah Anderson was in the original line-up of Bas Jan and worked on Likely Stories with Jarvis. I bet these are either working titles from that EP or soundtrack cues then.

Do Japanese releases still commonly include extra tracks (did the Manics new album for example?)?
Some. Blur had a couple and said they wouldn't be available elsewhere, but 2 or 3 months later they were on streaming sites.
Pulp had a big following in Japan, so its likely. I doubt they recorded just 11 tracks.
I dont know about the manics but it seems like a japanese exclusive: https://www.hmv.co.jp/en/artist_Manic-Street-Preachers_000000000005970/item_Critical-Thinking_15488630

I became aware of this a few days ago but finally got round to posting.
It's fantastic news and most of the new songs I've heard live had a lot of potential so with a few more bells and whistles added, they will sound great on record.
It's quite interesting that 4 of these are ballads (Hymn of the North, A Sunset, Slow Jam, Farmers Market). I wonder if "Tina", "Grown Ups" and "Partial Eclipse" will be anthems. Or maybe one of them will be a spoken epic. Let's see...
(will never in my life wear a baseball cap. why would Pulp fans wear baseball caps?)
I wear a baseball cap every day (I already own a JARV IS... one)! Don't really understand this at all, why wouldn't a Pulp fan wear a cap? It's just a cap innit.

I also wear baseball caps during the summer. They're a great fit and the best way to be protected from the sun. And the early 20th century style is timeless.
I have a Pulp baseball cap but generally wear a Peaky Blinders type flat cap whenever the sun is out. Not cos I'm trying to look trendy - I'm a Pulp fan after all - but because without out you could probably fry eggs on my noggin.

I think in Britain its just associated with American jock culture and more recently MAGA. There's the Libertines line isnt there 'ive never seen a more distressing sight than that of an Englishman in a baseball cap'.
same with Fred Perry shirt then. It was the far right fav polo shirt in the late 90S/00s and now ? Proud boys in the US, but in the UK the tables have turned i think.
IMHO, dont let anything taken away from you just because some stupid people is wearing it.

I'm Irish and that stuff doesn't register with me at all. it's a just a cap, a pretty basic practical item, and not much of a style choice. Since my hair got a little thinner i've worn one every day.
Scott Walker was a cap guy, and if it's good enough for Scott it's good enough for me.
Nothing ashamed about wearing a cap. I have had basal cell carcinoma which is no fun to get attended to. I love my Räkmacka (Shrimp Sandwich) Cap and wear it all the time.
Ah right ! Either the symbol of a 5th person of the climate change thing. Either they didn't choose this one not on purpose, pretty sure it has a meaning.
Dont forget Angela from Further Complications. And can I confirm there is a comma after More? Or is just the snowcap melting? And did they take the cutouts up the top of the mountain or are they Photoshopped in?
