On blue vinyl, nowt in the way of extras but this is really welcome given it's long been out of print. Cheapest copy on Discogs currently is just over £50 and a "near mint" one will set you back more than £150.

The only Island-era LP Pulp album missing from my collection. hopefully this is the start of a new reissue campaign based on the remastering Steve and Jarvis did a few years ago.

EDIT: ArrGee, you can delete this thread as Scott had already started one while I was writing the above.

EDIT 2: Actually, please don't (or just merge). The convo has expanded.

Great - yes will look out for this. Eamonn, can I ask a question - do you have the Sorted For E's and Wizz / Mis-Shapes [12 Inch Single] - I purchased yesterday from a shop and I was thinking it would have the inner sleeve of the jacket pattern that came with the CD single. On Discogs theres no scan of this release - so I was wondering if you have it in your collection? Did it come with an inner sleeve with the pattern?

I have this one, and it is just a plain white inner sleeve. Same with the other three Different Class 12 singles.

Rob, I checked the US Record Store Day list and Pulp weren't on it. Blur were (the 100th reissue of Parklife). A bit shit, I wonder why. There must be far more obscure British acts which have LPs pressed for RSD.

This is what Sir Sturdy suggested, last time the topic came up.

INTRO DELUXE DISC 2: DEMOS & ALTERNATIVE MIXES

1. OU radio edit

2. Sheffield Sex City instrumental
3. Razzmatazz early mix

4. OU original mix
5. Live On demo
6. Babies demo

7. Styloroc instrumental
8. Happy Endings demo
9  Razzmatazz demo
10. Glass demo

(Would also include Watching Nicky and The Boss here but that's maybe cheating if they're already on the deluxe His n Hers)

*There also may or may not be an early She's a Lady from the Babies sessions...

DISC 3: PULP AT THE BBC 1991-'93

Hit the North session '91

1. Space

2. Death II*

3. Live On

4. Countdown *

5. My Legendary Girlfriend*

(* Not owned by Universal Music but maybe Fire would be happy to donate)

Mark Goodier Session May '92

6. Babies

7. Live On

8. Your Sister's Clothes

9. She's A Lady

Hit The North Session with Marc Riley Feb 1993

10. Razzmatazz

11. Stacks

12. Pink Glove

13. 59 Lyndhurst Grove

14. Sheffield Sex City

15-18. Linked Interview segments between songs with Marc Riley. Why? Because it's the best interview they ever did!

*Pulp at Sound City as broadcast live April 1993 could also be included but maybe that should be held back for His'n'Hers SuperDeluxe given the wealth of material already here plus the creeping-in of more HnH material on that performance (Acrylic Afternoons).

And if we were to be extra-selfish....

DISC 4: Black Session Live in Paris,  Nov'92

1. She's A Lady

2. Pink Glove

3. Razzmatazz

4. Your Sister's Clothes

5. Live On

6. Separations

7. Babies

8 The Night (Four Seasons cover)

9. OU

10. Sheffield:Sex City

Not a bad super-deluxe for what's not even a proper studio album biggrin

What a package. I have also heard a completed (but seemingly pre-Buller) version of O.U. without the dramatic gap and also an instrumental version (I think it's on youtube still). Any other version of Styloroc would be great to hear. There's also a perfectly performed version of that from around the time somewhere- great guitar and drums. Not sure which gig.

Unfortunately, I dont have the ability to merge threads.  One of the shortcomings of activeboard, especially if you dont have admin rights.

However, this is what I have been waiting over 30 years.  A vinyl copy of Intro.  I remember getting a promo CD at a record fair in Stratford ahead of the official release and that is all I ever had.  A few copies of all the other LPs on CD and Vinyl (Except Hits of course).

Would be nice if there were vinyl reissues of singles from O.U. onwards.  And also Hits on vinyl would not go amiss.

I see there is an Autofiction live by Suede released as well. And the less than essential Waiting In The Sky by Bowie. Might have to head off to Rough Trade East early on 20 April.

Pre-Buller OU was the Simon Hinkler produced demo in Jan'92 and not a patch on the final version, right?

I'm amused that the description makes a big deal about the mix of Babies being different to the version on His 'n' Hers... given that the Abbey Road remastered His 'n' Hers replaced Babies '94 with the original mix anyway.

What Eamonn said..
The Simon Hinkler Fon session of O.U and Space were used after some extra fettling as the official release weren't they?
If memory serves, Live on & Babies were also recorded during this session?
And if memory serves again (i haven't played the tape in a long while) these versions are pretty flat and lifeless..
I suppose the Hinkler mix of O.U. was just lacking in any dynamics or pop/rock sheen which Buller skillfully produced from the original flesh and bones...

Ahh I didnt realise that the FON session was Simon Hinkler. Yes it was indeed very flat sadly, with OU being the standout track.

+ OU and Mile End. Plus Like A Friend or After You if vinyl space allowed. Drop Underwear and Miners Strike. We'd also need to make space for their forthcoming 2024 comeback hit singles...

I suspect there would be a brand new Hits alternative if it ever was released on vinyl which would remove Last Day of The Miners Strike.  Pretty sure Mis-shapes would be on it.  Also would probably add After You. And ideally add Countdown, My Legendary Girlfriend and OU, licences permitting.  Underwear could be dropped (Ill get my coat).

Mile End and Like A Friend wouldnt really count as hits as they were never released as singles. And if it goes beyond singles, I suspect there are more worthy contenders.  I see you are also keen on dropping Underwear

True but Trainspotting was ubiquitous and Mile End has its little role in that while LAF has had a second life post-2010.

I think you need all three of Mile End, Like a Friend and Underwear - nowadays, in the age of streaming, these are all big Pulp songs. All three are in the 'top ten' if I recall rightly (alongside Common People, Disco 2000, Babies, First Time, Hardcore, Sorted and Something Changed). Probably more essential than O.U. or Party Hard if we're being honest.

But with that approach, maybe we might as well go for a selective 'best of', drawing some kind of a 'canon' out of all the Pulp songs. With some of the 'hits' on there, but also songs like Pink Glove, Acrylic Afternoons, F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E, I Spy, Wickerman etc.

Or two discs - one a 'hits' rundown, the other a collection of live versions. Ideally you'd have different songs on each disc:

Ive got my copy, however apparently they don't have a download code inside like they did with His N Hers which is a real shame as I don't have a record player and can't fucking listen to it now !!!

I also love how the actual sticker on the front of the record lists Razzmatazz as "Razzamatazz"

That's annoying.

On the plus side, positive early review from the Discogs sound-experts:

"Amazing press. Sounds wonderful, great remaster and nice blue colour."

Didn't get a chance to nab this at the weekend.

Called into Sister Ray and Reckless Records in Soho during my lunchbreak but they said all copies were gone and the prices on Discogs are silly.

I suppose it's unreasonable to hope this will appear at the merch stands at this year's shows... so I'll just express the somewhat more reasonable hope that if Different Class gets a 30th anniversary RSD edition next year that it won't be limited to the UK and Europe (and that it *will* include a full replica of the original cover art).

I'm a bit mystified as to why we didn't get at least a few copies of Intro. Admittedly, Pulp are an extremely niche taste in Canada, but I can't imagine that they're any less popular than, say, the Mighty Lemon Drops.

Life would be so much simpler if I were more patriotic, then I could simply buy Tragically Hip and Barenaked Ladies records on RSD.

I got a copy. After seeing a massive queue outside Rough Trade East, I opted to make the 5 minute walk up Brick Lane to Flashback Records, where there was no queue and I was in and out in 5 minutes.

I have listened to the record once and didn't notice any great difference except that it seemed to he mastered at quite low volume and I needed to turn my hi-fi way up to appreciate the subtleties.

I also found the songs nearest the center of the record were a bit distorted, but I suspect that might be my needle needing replaced.

Didn't realise it would be popular. What's it re-selling for? I thought about getting two copies.

Ah thats annoying! I went to RTE yesterday as it is near my work. Didnt know about Flashback.

Not too upset though if there isnt that much different in the masters. Wondered if anything new had been brought out in the mixes. The His N Hers remaster was subtle, but did expose a few new elements (incl. an additional oh yeah in the Lipgloss outro).

PS. A worn stylus will bring out all the inner-groove distortion on a record, big-time.

If you are so inclined, try and get a shibata / microline stylus bye bye inner groove distortion forever!

Got a copy today at Golden Discs in Cork.  Very surprised to see it and exchange rate meant it cost £27 (32 Euro) which is cheaper than it was in UK.  Of course now I have to get it back on a flight tomorrow evening in mint condition.  Another store (33rpm) had Suede Autofiction Live for 39 Euro. Couldnt find Waiting In The Sky by Bowie.

I just purchased a copy today from a record shop in Perth. We were in Adelaide on RSD24 and did drop into one of the local record shops but didn't have it. Pleased to find it for $48 AUD and not the gauging prices on the Discogs... kind of repulsed by that.

Queued for an hour today.  I am not sure what the point of RSD is at Rough Trade East.  They have a separate pop up shop people queue to get into. They are given their records and clear off.  The actual store isn't particularly busy, even though they have live bands playing.  At least at our local store, Dreamhouse Records (Leyton), the records are out for you to rummage through, however they don't get everything so despite getting the Bowie LP there earlier, I had to traipse off to Shoreditch to get my suede and Boomtown Rats LPs.  The latter wasn't even on the picking list, so I was quite delighted it was there in the end. Probably the only person who wanted it biggrin. Have to admit having spent £65 on Pulp LPs yesterday and another £140 today, I think I will stay away from record store and online shops for the rest of the month.

His'n'Her released an RSD version a few years ago for the 25th anniversary. I was wondering why they didn't release Different Class this year for its 30th anniversary. Since no special version this year, I am on the fence about buying a used older version of Different Class on Discogs or buying a recently released new LP ...

I'm hoping that if "More" does well, Pulp will be on the radar of Universal's catalogue division and DC super-deluxe and a WLL regular deluxe (at least) will be just a matter of time.

Oh, yes, all of them, please!
By the way, I always love WLL, it deserves a deluxe CD back to ??? years ago.
