Has anyone else had a listen to Shed Seven's new album "A Matter of Time". I think it's quite impressive and probably their best yet. The closing track has (lyrical) shades of "Mis-Shapes" - "We're not part of the crowd but we'll keep rising ... we won't tow the line ... we won't change our ways", anyone? It sounds like more of an acceptance whereas "Mis-Shapes" is an all-out war. I have never rated Shed Seven as much as Pulp but bought some of their material back in the day and I have seen them live a couple of times. Still a decent enough band at the end of the day.

I think it's more impressive that they have just achieved their first number 1 album considering they weren't quite as big as Pulp, Blur, Suede etc. I know that record sales are totally different now but for a band whose biggest hit just scraped into the top 10, it's pretty good.

Agreed, it's a solid album which flows well and that track at the end with Pete Doherty is really nice (although does sound like they are trying to make another Chasing Rainbows!)

They've always been one of the better Britpop bands, and their run of singles in the mid 90s is up there with Pulp, Suede, Manics etc.

Unfortunately there was always a big 'lad' crowd at their gigs. And they also suffered from having a daft band name!

I think that there were a few bands that attracted "lad" crowds back in the day. I remember my friend going to see Cast and saying the same. I went to see Shed Seven in 2019 and 2022 and I'd say the average age of the crowd was mid 30s.
