That's why we're here! Happy are we who've been called to share in the Pulp world. They're really something very special Pulp. I love the attitude of making a special experience each time. The drama of drawing back the curtains at those gigs this year. You're seeing a film, you've entered the Pulp world, this isn't just a gig. This is something else. This is Pulp.
Someone here, could be yourself Ian, proposed they do the album with that string section. I know they're not cheap and Nick has also mentioned that fact and part of me - because I love them so much - is genuinely hoping they reap just financial rewards. A pal who was at one of the gigs this year also mentioned the amount of money they must have put back into those shows this year compared to contemporaries who barely even have a screen with their name displayed in the background. Pulp put on a massive show and they're not a charity. They have to make money. Fact of life. But from an artistic point of view I agree that would be going out in a blaze of glory to record with the string section. Maybe even just Hymn of the North. I think that's a more just full stop to the Pulp canon than LDOTMS. Whatever happens, they're always going to be special to me but, yeah, in a dream world where money is no object I'm thinking an album with the string section could be a thing of beauty. I love when Pulp get really dramatic a la I Spy. Full album might be overkill. Others have mentioned albums these days don't even have to be that long. 6 songs even. Whatever happens it was one hell of a show this year
Haha, reading back on this I love how we're talking about the album as if it's a certainty! Is this how that law of attraction stuff works? We'll keep talking about it here and we'll manifest it ;)
It wasn't me who said that. And hopefully, there will be an album. They used string sections on the last 3 albums so I don't see why they wouldn't with another.
This band has given me SO MUCH and i know it'll have its claws in me for the rest of my life. I will keep that love as long as I live, and I might live to be a hundred
Pam from Knutsford shared her First and Last gigs on Sara Cox's Radio 2 show today - the last being Pulp at Scarborough Open Air last July... the day we all got soaked.
