Hiya! This is my first post on Bar Italia. I'm Ester, some of you may already know me.

Was wondering if anyone was planning on attending the Hardcore book launch on Thursday? I'm really looking forward to it!

What would you ask Candida, Sam? I can't think of anything in particular, but if I get the chance I can try on your behalf.

Paul Burgess posted a link to an interview/ chat on Soho Radio with Martin Green to promote the book so for those who can't make it, this is likely a similar conversation. Nice to hear some different Harcore-era mixes and songs too...

Can someone share the details again?

I'm in London tomorrow and finish teaching at 4, so could theoretically go.

Five minutes away from where I'm teaching! That makes it more feasible.

Does anyone know the name of the Party Hard mix played at the 40 minute mark? Doesn't seem to be on the recent Spotify Party Hard EP.

It sounds a lot more commercial than the album/single version. Vocals pushed to the front and effective recycling of parts to make it more catchy.

A nice Trees remix also played during this show.

It's the Chocolate Layers remix and appears on a promo. It is essentially a re-jigged and extended version of the original.

It is on my website:

Nice one, thanks Ian. Think it's my favourite version of all, bit of a banger.

This is the first I've heard about it. I might pop in. I assume it's free?

Yes.

Apparently they will be showing a 12 minute film of unseen Pulp footage shot by Paul from the Hardcore era/video-shoot outtakes at the beginning.

Listened to this on the train to and from work https://www.mixcloud.com/sohoradio/the-beige-green-room-30102023/ - Martin Green's Soho Radio show - lots of Pulp remix's and Paul talking about the origins of Hardcore.

I am absolutely tremendously envious of ALL of you and hope you had the most wonderful time !!!

Karaoke - I'm so excited to hear Heather's rendition of Countdown. No backing out now.

And Eamonn - so very kind of you to offer RE questions for Candida. Unfortunately I've been busy and I just couldn't think of anything good to ask!

I am absolutely kicking screaming furiously envious of you all. Meeting the actual CANDIDA DOYLE... [crying emoji]

Ahh well. I may be stuck in Scotland doing uni midterms, but at least I don't have to splash out on overpriced accom to come up here at New Year's <3
