Wow did i miss pulp played a new song at shows ? I did
Northern Hymn Sounds pretty cool. To me its not « single » material, so that probably means they have more. It also doesnt sound like a song from an EP but something out of something bigger.
Are they preparing a new album ? Sounds like a big closer song from a big orchestral album. Excited Here.

It's not a Pulp song, it was written by Jarvis for a play, so not intended to be "single material". There's nothing to suggest Pulp are writing new music at this time.
Yeah, it might not be an original Pulp tune but Mark's certainly added stuff of his own, I expected it to be a Sheffield one-off but now that they've played it in London I'm curious again.
Fingers crossed. I've been listening to it a lot this week. There's a video from the last night at Hammersmith and the sound is quite clear on it. Keep playing it over and over. Would love a studio recording of it. Maybe it's just that the sound is clearer but i thought there might be little subtle changes from the Sheffield gig. Little bits on the drums were different I think and other bits and bobs as well. Thought that might be indicative of a song being worked on. I love the lyrics and I particularly love when it goes into the 'Northern lights will guide you home' part. Bring a tear to a glass eye it would. I really, really like it.
I think this time they know it's the last time unless they create new music to tour. Jarvis tends to have seams/periods of creativity, and since lockdown he's been really active - if there was ever going to be more to come then maybe it's now.
I'd have a hat stew to eat of course - I've already said I thought any chance of new Pulp music died with Steve - but it'd be gratefully received.

Just been listening to Hymn of the North at London Apollo again and the words after the discordant music seems to me like hes saying
Understand
Believe
In you
and me
And then it goes into the Northern Lights will guide you bit.
Still not 100% sure on the Understand bit but after listening to it over and over again and putting it into one verse it looks alright.
