Truth and Beauty says 27 September, and so does PulpWiki. This was a Wednesday.
This advert says 25 September: https://www.thenostalgiashop.co.uk/products/pulp-mis-shapes-original-vintage-advert-1995-ref-ad10964 and so does the new digital EP.
Should the EP be corrected to the 27th? Or is the book and Wiki incorrect?
I've found some dubious dates with a lot of the singles/albums on PulpWiki/Wikiwiki. It would have had to be a Monday back then so I think you're right with the 25th.
Just checking the other Island single dates now... they all match Truth and Beauty. In fact I remember copying some of them across to the Wiki myself.
Lipgloss - 12 November 1993 which was a Friday... and the digital EP (I now notice) moved this to 15 November, the following Monday Something Changed - 29 March 1996 which was a Friday. I've found an advert which says 25 March, the previous Monday Help the Aged - 11 November 1997 which was a Tuesday. I've found an advert which says 10 November, the Monday
Oops. At this point I've no idea where I got the dates in the book from, although I'm sure it'll have been something that seemed reliable at the time. Sorry for pissing in the fact pool!

Can confirm Help The Aged was absolutely Monday 10th November '97 - I still have the receipt from HMV when 11 year old me got the bus into town to buy it after school :)
Has anyone got a copy with the sleeve where the wraps have been blanked out? I never saw one of these in a shop. Did it actually happen?
I remember reading about this at the time and never saw one and haven't since- I'm fairly sure they don't exist. The Sorted single didn't seem to be withdrawn anywhere (certainly not in the North East). I think Island and/ or Pulp's management made a statement saying the single would be re-issued in a plain sleeve just to appease the trouble makers, knowing full well they weren't going to actually do so.
They were Monday with the midweeks on Tuesday which was a good indicator due to pre-orders. And then the chart on Sunday.
They only changed it to Friday in much more recent times.
Also, I'd thought singles were always released on a Friday (?) but Common People was definitely released on a Monday. Hmmm.
Singles and albums were released on mondays back in the day. They moved to friday in 2015 to help boost sale from people going out to shops on weekends and stuff like that. They though they would stop by record shop more and buy more. Dumbasses
Inbetween it was tuesdays. They should try sundays, just to make sure it's the day that's the problem
