"Shitty camera footage" isn't quite the same as a clean crisp audio recording but it can convey the atmosphere of a gig rather well:
I saw a video on YouTube after Pulp played at the closing of St Martin's College when moving to a new site. The verse was fairly OK phone footage and then the chorus was just a blur of floor and feet flying around as the filmer lost it, actually captured the mood extremely well.
