Crumbs - I owned that 7 twice over the years and sold it twice. Think it went for about £30-£40 both times from what I remember. Sheesh !

Tracks arent really that great though tbh Sickly Grin is good but not great quality of course being a 1982 demo, MLG is just a sound check and Back In LA is just well yknow.

That's outrageous!
I had 2 copies of this, gave them away many years ago..
I originally ordered 2 from separate addresses because it was only one copy per household..
Main thing i remember is how long it took before they were finally pressed and despatched..
And so disappointing when they did finally land..
It sounded awful..

I had a spare copy of this which I listed on eBay in 2005. The maximum bid was £15 and it didn't meet the reserve so I relisted and got about £40.

I have noticed that RC Media's eBay prices seem to be ridiculously high. If you look at some of their other listings. For example, the orange "Disco 2000" 7" is £175. These were on sale in every record store in the country and not exactly hard to find today.

It would have been funny if "Back in LA" had never been released (on this and the "Premonition" tape) then the first time we ever heard it was when they performed it in 2012 biggrin

I guess Jarvis has/had a little affection for the PPJ live demo?
I did have an original copy of the tape, if memory serves it was this recording that secured their fire records contract..
So before "Back in La" was given over to some obscure releases, i already knew the song..
I still find it odd that it was ever "let out" considering that it has a slight "togetherness" issue..

I really like the Caff MLG. Raw and rocking, as stark a contrast as you can imagine to the album version (which I also love, natch).

Can never tell whether Back in LA is badly played, or just so echoey that everyone seems a bit out of sync with each other. Going by the Rockwells tape they could obviously play it live competently enough, and it's not like it was technically a tricky song to play!

Wonder how Bob Stanley managed to persuade Jarv to mine the vaults for this release. Seems very uncharacteristic of JC, considering his usual attitude towards old Pulp stuff. Shame it didn't happen a bit more often...
