So we all knew the tour would be postponed but I'm gutted that the album is too!!
I guess it makes sense though...
JARV IS making adjustments.
Like everyone else we are trying to make sense of this new reality. So:
1.The JARV IS tour has been postponed. The new dates are:
Sun-Nov-22 Birmingham O2 Institute
Mon-Nov-23 Manchester Albert Hall
Wed-Nov-25 Glasgow Barrowlands
Fri-Nov-27 Liverpool Invisible Wind Factory
Sat-Nov-28 Bristol Marble Factory
Mon-Nov-30 London The Roundhouse
(Those who bought tickets for the May tour will be able to use them for entry to these shows, obvs.)
2.The release of the album "Beyond the Pale" has also been delayed. It will now be coming out on the 4th of September.
Its a drag to have to make these changes but we're sure you understand why theyre necessary. We are looking into ways of doing some kind of "virtual performances" in the interim. We miss you!
IN THE MEANTIME You can keep fit whilst cooped-up indoors by dancing to "House Music All Night Long" - suddenly lines such as "Saturday Night Cabin Fever in House Nation" & "Goddam this claustrophobia!" have taken on a new meaning - but a domestic disco really is quite a pleasant method of passing the time.
I was quite startled this morning when that email came through this morning with the sender simply "Jarvis Cocker".
Presumably to release an album successfully, you need to go out and about doing all the promotion with an upcoming tour to back it up. Lauren Laverne played House Music on her Recommends programme yesterday.

I dont know, at this stage of his career, Jarvis has a fanbase that is aware of his new releases via social media and stuff, it's not like he's gonna sell records to 15 years old. The record would still sell. Maybe it's an issue with physical releases that cant be shipped, that's the only reason i see. Otherwise, it's just a stupid record label decision.
the Strokes have an album coming out in 2 weeks, and it's not been delayed (yet).
They do seem to have made a big deal out of lots of different physical versions, so maybe it is more relevant than bands whose main sales are digital and streaming. I've no idea how significant a part of the sales that might be for Jarv Is..., not something I've really thought about as I haven't bought any physical music since digital became widely used or indeed, been in a record shop: you may go ahead and stone me now.
