Apparently, propelled by General Election dismay, Jarvis is on-course for a late-career boon (hit?) through a campaign for Running The World to get to number one for Christmas.
I had a notification on Facebook from Stephen Bray about a group of people promoting the streaming/buying of the song. Today someone has posted that it is currently just inside the iTunes Top 30 Singles Charts (apparently the Xmas number one and full chart will be released next weekend) so the campaign will be running for the next few days.
I wonder if Jarvis would have retired the song had the Tories been defeated. Might have made his current non-Pulp-hits gigs a harder sell to the audience and ultimately, he is a crowd-pleaser. It must be some consolation for him that his relevance is still being acknowledged.
At the bottom of his instagram post he says that he should have a musical Christmas present either tonite or tomorrow- Im hoping its another Jarv is.. tune

It's this:
Not bad, bad but i prefer the original- still, always nice to get something from Jarvis
Nevertheless, the first solo chart entry for 12 years. Pretty impressive it was higher than Happy Xmas (War is Over) which must be streamed ad infinitum.
As an aside, I did note, Mariah Carey, The Pogues and Slade are on the brink of 100 weeks in the charts. How I wish I wrote a Christmas song...
His highest charting single since Don't Let Him Waste Your Time, his debut solo single - ironic considering Running The World originally came out first. I'm sure Cunts must have sold more though.
I still can't believe the weighting they give to streams ahead of actual song sales (digital downloads). Jarvis was in the top three download charts on all the main outlets (amazon, iTunes etc.). And no.6 in Scotland's overall charts - I guess they want to stay in the EU as much as Jarv.

Had Cunts had a physical release back in the day, it may have been a hit. Don't Let Him Waste Your Time was on 3 different discs, hence it made the lower reaches of the charts. Not sure it would have sold more.
FWIW I think value of sales should be what matters. I suspect WHO by The Who has made more money overall than any other release in recent weeks. There are a few versions of it ranging from £5 - £45, and given the difficulty I had getting the double LP version, they have sold a lot. Was #1 in vinyl charts, but only #3 in overall chart.
