You've been talking to my friends
You take my advice
I don't know what's going on between you and someones else's wife
Told you once, I won't tell you again
The things you do are hard to explain
You take a start and you tear it apart and you never ever justify your means
Say your piece
Know what I mean
Say your piece
You don't tell me
I've got lots to share
When it's out it goes away
When it's outside
You don't miss a chance
???
Following ???
There's something ??? ends in a curse
You think I know and I think it shows
And you always try to do it ???
Where have you been, my girl?
???
???
When it's outside
And it's hard to bear
Things that really don't ???
You don't tell me
Yes I know it sounds a mess
But I know I really ???
Oh I say! That dirty synth sound is amazing for ones so young and tender. It really makes the song - who's playing it/what is it? Jarvis' vox are ropey as fcuk but at least the kid was trying. Great sound quality given the age.
I actually prefer this early material to some of the mid-80s stuff covered on the last discovered batch of live recordings from pre-fame Pulp that Stephen compiled on his Portfolios six or seven years ago. I find a lot of that stuff leading into Freaks so dirgey. Much more space to appreciate the pop in these earlier efforts. Fair play, Jason!

Yes, thanks indeed Jason. Big fan of this and You've Got A Face. Even though they're a bit rough (Jarvis' ad-libbed "I know it sounds a mess but I'm really trying my best" here being a nod to its out-of-tune and under-rehearsed nature I guess) it's clearly they were really on to something at this point. Strange to think these songs were only played once or twice before the band dissolved and Jarv made an abrupt change in direction.
@Eamonn - I believe that's Peter Dalton on the dirty synth. David Hinkler on the organ chords, and Jamie+Wayne on bass and drums of course.

Thank you so much Jason! I take it 'You Go First Son' is not from the 1982 Bath University gig that the other tracks came from?
I think it was most likely from the gig at the Limit on 13 April 1982. I know a recording exists for that one, and Jason has also put out 'You've Got A Face', which I think he said was from The Limit.
Based on the four leaked tracks, I think it's odds-on that there is a digital copy of both the Bath University gig and The Limit gig in their entirety somewhere in private hands. Regardless of whether we get to hear more, if there is indeed a complete digital copy of both gigs, I'd just be happy that they have been safely digitised and preserved. Tape doesn't last forever after all.

Thanks salmon92. Yes, very exciting to hear these early unreleased songs! Hopefully there's more to come.
