Yeah, sad news, hope it was peaceful, I don't remember hearing of any long-term illness.

What a singular artist he was.

Devastating news, he was more of an influence than he is usually given credit for and will continue to be.

I will leave you with this:

"The Electrician"?

For me I came to Scott Walker via a bit of Pulp and a bit of Nick cave. Theres the first time with seeing his name in the first few paragraphs of We Love Life reviews and then theres the proper time when Nick Cave put one of those Mojo CDs together and I was sooo very weirded out by "The Big Hurt" - but I kept coming back to it. Then Jarvis toured down here in 2009 and I bought Martin Craft's CD and also the first Scott album and I put it in the car and that was it.... I was gone.

Sad loss.  Been playing his music since I heard.

I think he got most kudos for his influence on other acts especially the likes of Bowie, Radiohead, Pulp and others.  His solo material is somewhat neglected in the mainstream in comparison except the Walker Brothers which is/was less influential.  Scott 2 has some of the greatest pop lyrics ever, only Leonard Cohen was comparable at the time.
