This is pretty intriguing isn't it! I'd happily pay my money to Jarvis if he felt like playing some shows where he sang material from all phases of his career; Pulp, Relaxed Muscle & solo. I wouldn't even care if there was no new material. He's at the stage know where he can do things like that. I remember the first time I heard Morrissey a Smith's song in 95, it seemed so audacious but he does em all the time now, so why not Jarvis?
I did find a thing when I first posted it on Youtube claiming to be a link to a livestream, but it took you to another site and wanted you to register and download stuff, it looked dead dodgy to me, so I didn't, that's why I didn't post it here either. Seems to have gone now.
There is this - the classic book promo lecture with Powerpoint of buses:

This? I don't recognise this! Reykjavik has a very nice modern cathedral??

Doh! I could have thought of this sooner. That's 5 song titles "performed 1 time by 1 artist"! So the one in the video is presumably "Am I Missing Something".
Nice work Fran. I had checked SetlistFM a couple of days ago but although the gig was listed, no songs were showing.
So, that's half an album of new songs, potentially. Great!
Good to see he's been productive on more than just the Room29 record over the past couple of years - well, five years if you start from the end of the Pulp reunion (After You on Jonathan Ross, Jan'13). Based on that one song, and the great titles of the others, it sounds promising.
Just discovered the setlist has been updated at setlist FM. That suggests a new solo album is coming which is what I have been hoping for since Pulp disbanded!

It looks like he opened with a song called "Sometimes I Am Pharoah" and during the song in the video, he definitely sings "Sometimes I am ????" a couple of times. I'll try and do a full transcription later
This is a TV broadcast of Sigur Ros, at 33 mins there is an interview with Jarvis that lasts until about 40 minutes. So when he was explaining on the last Sunday Service that it was pre-recorded because he was performing in Iceland and being a bit dramatic about maybe being ecstatic or maybe hidng away in a hot spa, I just took it to be his usual lack of self-confidence, but seeing as he was producing a quite a lot of new material for the first time in ages, no wonder he was a bit freaked.

As I heard it, the opening lines were about going into a cathedral and waiting to feel something, but nothing happened, so that's why I took it to match up with "Am I Missing Something"

I quite like the song and I think it has an Egyptian sound to it. On first impressions, I think it could definitely be fleshed out into something decent and it features some great keyboards.
Here's my transcription; not the best but certainly a start.
As you walk into the cathedral
Hoping that you will feel something
But all you feel is empty
So you think that you are ???
That's why you're obviously ???
Frightened in front of famous buildings
I walked into
All you ever see
I see a lot of people
I see a lot of ???
Some people taking photos
Some people eating ice-cream
Some people standing in a line
Something's here and they can see it
Something's here and they can see it
Yeah
Sometimes I am Pharaoh
Sometimes I am Ch???
Sometimes I'm made of stone
But always out there watching
I sat next to a woman
Who asked if God was like a camera
That automatically took a picture
If you said the words
She took a photo of the altar
Although she knew it was forbidden
She's frightened of ???
I said "why don't you remember?"
Then she started crying
Then she started crying
Oh, jump
Everybody in there
I stood still for hours
In front of ???
Then the crowds gathered
And the crowds gathered
And about that time
But then when you least expect it
I...
Jump!
I'll make you jump
I'll make you jump
I'll make you jump
I'll make you jump
I'll make you jump
I think the answer
Lies in the ???
It's a catalogue
Down by the ???
Once you've been ???
??? museum
Sometimes I am trembling
And sometimes I'm made of stone
But always I am watching
I'll make you jump
I'll make you jump
I'll make you jump
I'll make you jump
I'll make you
I'll make you...jump

That's great work, Ian, you're obviously right about the pharoah bit. I've tried to fill in some of the gaps above, the bit near the end is particularly hard to decipher.

Thanks, I agree with all your additions. Chances are there will be a few lyrical changes if/(hopefully) when this is recorded. On further listening, I think that there is definitely a winner there and although I haven't heard any of the other new songs in the set, it sounds like a decent opener for an album or live show
The vocal phrasing reminds me a bit of Roxy Music's In Every Dream Home A Heartache and the keyboards in the middle a bit like some of the live versions of Acrylic Afternoon during the breakdown section (maybe when it was still also unfinished, 'Typ Trop'?) /geek

This can only be good news, been hoping for a new solo record!
I'm wondering if Must I Evolve from the setlist is what became of the FC-era "song about a Beetamax video recorder" which never materialised?
Anyways, heres to some UK gigs sooner rather than later (:
Well what a news ! I kinda felt that he really enjoyed going back onstage during the Room 29 shows.
If he plays that many songs during a very anecdotic show, then, a solo album is surely on the way. Two jarvis records in less than a year, that's a first ?
Wow, what amazing news to kick off 2018 with. Am I right in thinking this is his first regular solo gig since touring Further Complications? A set of stuff from the two solo LPs would excite me enough but a bunch of new songs?! An album is coming! Now we have to play the waiting game.
Yes, those songs haven't been touched since the Further Comps touring wound-down at the end of the 00's. I wonder, if as well as Pulp's reunion, the death of Tim McCall in early 2010 - who co-wrote and played on a fair bit of that record, left Jarvis needing some distance from those songs. Also, that a fair bit of the lyrical content ('Deep, Leftovers) strongly betrayed his personal life at the time, divorce etc. it may have been a headfuck to "get into" them again from a performance point of view.
