Sad news - spoke to him about various pulp/sheffield related things, very generous and informative guy. Taken too soon. RIP

Indeed. This is what I posted on Facebook last night:

Saddened to hear of the passing of Sheffield music journo extraordinaire Martin Lilleker. Martin was the second-ever person I interviewed for my Pulp book as an enthusiastic but utterly clueless 18 year old. He couldn't have been more helpful and patient, giving me loads of info and pointers without which I'd have really struggled in the early stages of doing the book. He didn't even seem to mind much when I rang him up for a chat every few months for a year or two after that. A gentle giant of a man who will be much missed.

And for his non-journalistic brilliance, check out his "Wealthy Texans" track on the Premspeak One comp:

Fantastic listen throughout, frankly.
