Hey, Merry Christmas! Thanks to some recent detective work the link here (https://sheffieldtapearchive.bandcamp.com/album/live-at-the-hallamshire-hotel-1981-85-featuring-pulp-bogshed-the-membranes-heroes-of-the-beach-the-blimp) now includes a version of Life Must Be So Wonderful that has never previously been in circulation and is likely to have been unheard for 30 years. I know there's quite a few versions of this out there, but it is unusual in this day and age for new 80s Live Pulp to come to light. Top marks to the excellent Nick Canute for engaging with my investigations and thanks as ever to Sturdy for finding these people in the first place.
Ps the versions of Being Followed Home and Will to Power on here are belters, too. Especially given Russell's recent revelation about the former track being a carry over from his Pre-pulp band!
Bloody nice work, and belters they are indeed - especially Being Followed Home, which I think might become my favourite live rendering. The harmonizing is well captured and the vocal distortion adds something I think. Thanks again for all your collective efforts!
That was pretty good to hear. "Life Must Be So Wonderful" always seems to sound better on the stage as opposed to on the record because it's probably the one that suffers the most from the rushed recording, it would have been interesting if they had held it back for "Separations"; it may have been better than, say, "She's Dead" or "Down By The River"
