Hi all just wondered how many went to see the premier live from a cinema I travelled all the way to Hull from near Lincoln to go see it - wasn't disappointed at all was fab but was the only one in there!
Oh dear, I was worried this might be a common occurrence in some of the smaller towns around the country. What is cinema protcol when no one shows up for a film screening? Project it anyway?!
use to work in a cinema and yes that's exactly what they do lol however odeon played the whole thing with just me in there - however were letting viewers for the next screening in 30 mins prior to the end!
I thought it was an incredibly brave, and possibly foolhardy, move to show the film in so many cinemas across the country. I wonder how much it cost to do that and whether it made its money back? I would have thought the film would be relatively borderline on profit potential. I wonder if there were any cinemas that were actually empty? I quite like the thought of the film playing to an empty auditorium.
I went to see it twice again in London after being in Sheffield for the premiere and on both occasions the cinemas (small ones) were nearly full. Which was nice.
Well I never got to see it sadly due to arriving in London too late on the 7th of June. And of course I'm sure it's not showing anywhere near me in the US.
Really disappointed to see that no other cinemas had other screenings on Sunday or later in the week...especially near Birmingham.
I'm eagerly awaiting the DVD release and noticed it's been pushed back from the 7th of July to the 14th. I just hope it's out before I leave the UK to go back home (end of July).

The future that you've got mapped out is nothing much to shout about.
Here's an article about another screening, with Q&A with Jarv and Florian. I haven't time to read through all the details, I find it surprisingly hard to work out where these things are happening, but it's somewhere in America, I suppose there might be a clue in the Brooklyn in the website name!
When I was testing some software years ago, I made a karaoke version of "Master of the Universe". It has long since been deleted but I managed to get all the lyrics bang on although the backing track sounded a little odd (I used a filter to (attempt to) remove Jarvis' vocals).
"Silence" would be simple, anyone could play the 2 notes and the horn could be sampled. Getting the lyrics on the screen wouldn't be too hard for a slow song, I would imagine (would a seasoned fan even need the lyrics?)

I don't really know what to say about this. I have seen various tweets during the day who agree that that this 9 year was indeed both very good and very disturbing. I haven't summoned up the courage to watch the video that's linked in the article. Then again, when I was 9, I probably innocently sang along with all kinds of songs without the faintest idea what any of it was about. And I remember thinking it was sweet how fond Mrs Slocombe was of her cat - that was prime time family viewing. As was the 2 Ronnies. i suppose this is what can happen if you don't let PR people sanitise everything for you.
I saw this video yesterday and was really shocked. But this shock was far exeeded when I saw, that he was the winner of this karaoke competition. That destroyed a lot and I hope, that Jarvis and Florian will do something. I can't believe, that they have chosen this video.
What du you think? I think, that is where the fun stops.
I see the audition video has been set to private in YouTube. This has forced me to imagine a 9 year old singing 'This Is Hardcore' whilst doing Jarvis style raunchy dancing. I think th
I still don't like it. And I don't know who do blame for. The parents who allowed that? The assistants, who choosed the video for the competition. Or Jarvis and Florian who declared this boy to a winner?

the article does point out that Jarvis also found this rather disturbing. Maybe none of the other entrants were any good? Then you've left yourself in a very awkward position, if you obviously ignore the only one that is vaguely competent. This presumably is exactly why PR demand to control everything that makes a lot of modern life so dull. But by definition, risk is risk, ergo, it sometimes goes rather pear-shaped. As an engineer, I like to have sensible risk-mitigation strategies in place though. Arty people seem to like to "work without nets". As for picking the successful entrants in the first place, I imagine that was done by the people putting the film on. This is Brooklyn - I have never been there, so I don't actually have any idea what it's like, but from things you read about it, it sounds quite a wacko place that celebrates being alternative and ignoring boundaries and all that kind of stuff, seems they sometimes lose sight of which boundaries are there for a good reason. Though it also sounds like quite a few of the audience were quite freaked too.
I think that's enough thinking aloud. I still haven't watched it. I did watch the first few seconds, with a bit of piano playing, then chickened out.

Hey Fran, thank you for your thoughts. I don't want to appear as square. Maybe because of my job, I know a lot children at this age and I know that they sing a lot of songs, where they have no idea what they are singing about. But because of all the movements this boy did (that comes in there...) I don't think, that he is so unaware.
I don't know, I don't want to think too much about it, but t still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
As I said, I can't face watching the video, for the the very reason you say. There is a longer article here that gives more of a feel of how it all went. I am still worrying about it all a bit. I just try to see things from all sides to see if I can make sense of it, but I am struggling.
It seems like one of those "you had to be there" moments. I wonder what day this week the Daily Mail will copy & paste chunks of that Rolling Stone article adding "The Sorted For E's & Wizz" singer..." Or referencing Pulp's "1992 hit single, 'Sheffield: Sex City'"?
Maybe I'm being optimistic here. They'll definitely add the 'H' into 'wHizz'.
