Incredibly rare in that there will likely have only ever been single copies of these tapes produced by producer Pete Lewis for reference purposes for the producer/band/management/label.
Interesting stuff indeed. Personally I can't really justify spending the kind of money that these are likely to go for, so I hope whoever does is generous enough to share!
Potentially the most interesting one is the Barry Crusoe rough mix, as it sounds like it's potentially very different from anything we've heard.

Just a quick reminder that these are ending later this evening. In answer to an earlier question - No, I didn't work on the sessions but someone was getting rid of their studio tapes, CD-Rs etc a few years ago.
You made well over three hundred quid on these in the end. Nice work if you can get it, especially if they were just dumped into your lap from someone throwing them out.
I think it's a bit much to remind people of the auction when you're unlikely to post here again given you only registered last week to advertise your auction. Making a copy of the recordings and uploading them for us would, I'm sure, make us look upon you more favourably ;)
Grrrr! I was watching these all day with a view to place a last minute but completely screwed it up & missed the end time. I would have won it too!
Maybe next time :(

Bang on Eamonn. Just had a thought, maybe it could have been Scott bloody Frazer?????
He put them on with a low starting price, no one was forced to bid megabucks for them (or at all, come to that). Would you rather not have heard about the auction at all?

I don't have a problem with it, I watched them just to see how much they'd go for :) I do think it would be a pain in the arse if there were posts every couple of days from people advertising stuff, but now and then it's ok I reckon.
All that money though and I bought a THIS IS HARDCORE stamper for £1.29 the other week
Just to mention that I perhaps got a bit carried away and bought two of the tapes (A Little Soul/My Body May Die mixes). I'll provide more information when I've received and listened to them.
I will share them in due course - the stuff that's not been commercially released anyway. I've never sold any of my Pulp recordings for profit and I'm not going to start now. But I do hope that if anybody's sitting on any rare live recordings (etc.) that they will think about reciprocating.

That's a fair point but I still think the follow-up post is a bit much when the person has already made us aware of the auction with hefty early bids having already been put in for the items. Makes it clear that they blatantly signed-up to the forum just to try and make as much money as possible from a captive audience. A free market is perfectly natural and we're not some kind of dummies as the man once (nearly) sung, I just thought it a bit cheeky.
And congrats Will for winning/buying them. They couldn't be in safer hands.

I don't think that it's a problem signing up to the board just to advertise these.
I don't have time to constantly watch what rare Pulp items are appearing on eBay nowadays (I have a business and a life, thank you!). I am glad they were mentioned on here because I wasn't aware and may not have seen them otherwise. I can only echo Sturdy's points above.
What is of more concern, however, is that someone has had the decency to unleash some rare Pulp recordings (albeit for a price, which I think is justified given how rare these items actually are) and again it's caused one of these silly debates where fellow board-members (who have provided more rare recordings to us than you think) are being slagged off. You have only yourselves to thank for the rest of the "We Love Life" demos not being in circulation and if this guy has got another DAT, I wouldn't be surprised if he sold it privately.
We're all fans here, let's stick together!
Will - I am more than happy to donate some money to you when you share these.

Ian, you pretty much nailed it on there. I don't expect anyone to defend me for what have done in the past, but I certainly do not expect anyone now to continue to slag me off or insult me. If you want to do that we can meet in person. I have had the bollocks to come out, explain myself and I've now tried to resolve it. Will, thank you for purchasing these tapes, I would like to contribute to them myself too.

Ian, I think you're making a lot of a differing opinion on a fairly minor subject. I was inquisitive/happy to see the opening post in this thread as it gave a glimpse into the TIH recordings that we didn't have before and this 'borntolose' person starting an auction with no reserve of a rare primary source from those sessions is fair enough - my first reply suggests as much. I just thought the fact that the bids for each three items were already pretty high by the time the person posted again - (their only other post ever on here, there seemed little need to bump it to create more interest) - just struck me as a bit cheeky. I did add a smiley at the end of my post when suggesting he could also upload them - it's not as if I was asking for him to be banned from the forum. In fairness to the person, they also answered my question in that second post as to whether they worked on the sessions or not. And weed said he forgot to bid so maybe I misjudged the deep pockets/interest of regulars on here in buying the items.
As to your broader point, it strikes me as a bit odd on one thread you're saying how great both the old culture of swapping bootlegs with no cash exchanged was along with the modern way of people uploading them for free being more than acceptable now that you've got used to it whereas here you're praising a "fellow-board member" for registering just to flag an ebay auction of stuff that he knows we'll all swarm around. You see it as "decency to unleash some rare Pulp recordings" - it's not like it's being done as an act of kindness whereas the dozens of recordings the likes of Will, Stephen and I dare say even you in the past, have done for free. (Yes, they were digital as opposed to physical, one-off items as these but as I said before, offering to upload the recordings once the auction was over would have left a better taste all-round in my opinion).
And the WLL-demos Trixygate saga was hardly the same - he/she was uploading unreleased songs (which, for me, will always trump alternate mixes of released stuff) for free, with nowt to gain from it, (in fact I think she mentioned something about the recordings being the possession of her brother's and she having to be careful not to get caught) and being pretty nice/naive about everything until people questioned her motives.
